Our customer works to understand air defense issues, in particular, air vehicle survivability, the vulnerability of U.S. Air Force (USAF) aircraft to weapons systems, electronic countermeasures, and air surveillance for homeland defense. The focus is on understanding USAF and threat air defense systems through tests and measurements. Test activities include flight and field testing. We operate three airplanes, all highly instrumented and numerous ground systems as needed for test efforts. We also develop new hardware for testing and prototype systems as well as for instrumenting existing sensors. Odyssey Systems requires for one full-time Airworthiness Engineer to support the aircraft structural modification project.

The candidate will be responsible for the management of a multi-year transformation of a Gulfstream IV-SP into the next Airborne Sensor Test Bed (ASTB). The project entails major airframe modifications including fuselage and wing strengthening, the integration of underwing/centerline instrumentation pods, nose and tail electromagnetic and optical sensors, a sonobuoy or dropsonde release system and major electrical/data infrastructure. The candidate will participate in overseeing vendors performing the necessary aircraft modifications and ensuring that the work is properly executed, documented and delivered on schedule. Support will also include design and conduct of a flight test program to demonstrate compliance with modifications specifications and to obtain FAA approvals for continued operations. Related work will include the establishment of a configuration management program and documentation archive to support the aircraft throughout its life.
