Develops, coordinates and conducts reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (doe) constructs. Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability performance. Analyzes performance reports to evaluate adherence to performance guarantees. Investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting products and related processes. Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Develops mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks.
Reliability Engineer on MRJ development program. Responsible for performance of aircraft structure and systems component design reliability modeling/analyses, encompassing statistical analysis, failure rate prediction and allocation, historical failure data analysis, failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), fault tree analysis (FTA), and failed parts monitoring and trend analysis (FRACAS). Participates in design reviews and trade studies, and proposes changes in design or processes. Works integrally with Maintainability Engineering and System Safety organizations. Recommends test methods for achieving required levels of product reliability and determines optimum sample size to obtain statistically valid data. Analyzes program-level requirements and preliminary plans, developing effective Reliability Engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency requirements and performance guarantees.
The successful candidate will typically have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline (or qualified to an equivalent level), with at least 10 years of experience in Reliability Engineering and System Safety within an aerospace environment.
In addition, the following are preferred:
• Proficient with industry reliability and safety applications/tools (e.g., Windchill, ReliaSoft)
• Working knowledge of reliability prediction analysis
• Familiarity with ARP4761 & ARP4754 safety documents
• Experience in hydraulic electro-mechanical products
• Able to work collaboratively in a cross-discipline team environment
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated and proactive
