Job Description and Qualifications
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Facility Manager for the Gulf Coast Ammonia facility in Texas City, TX.
The Air Products Gulf Coast Ammonia Facility Manager has the EH&S, Operational and Maintenance responsibility for the Air Products & Gulf Coast Ammonia Production Facility and associated assets in Texas City.
The facility is a greenfield build for what will be the world’s largest single train ammonia plant.
The facility assets include Air Products largest Steam Methane Reformer, a Nitrogen Air Separation Unit, an Ammonia Plant and associated Ammonia Pipelines, Steam Turbine Power Generation and large Utility System. The facility has connections to the Air Products Gulf Coast Pipeline system for Hydrogen and external parties for Natural Gas, Water and Electrical Power.
With a group of 35 employees, this position reports to the Executive Director Non-Traditional Assets / General Manager Gulf Coast Ammonia and works closely with the Air Products Customer Service Center Manager, Air Products Regional Technical Resources and the Gulf Coast Ammonia Owners Operations Representative to ensure the on-going alignment of operational and business goals for both Air Products & Gulf Coast Ammonia.
You will be responsible for the safety of all personnel in the facility and ensuring the safety of the community in which we operate. You are the key interface with the local community and expected to maintain and foster relationships with key community stakeholders including Texas City Community Advisory Council, Texas City Plant Managers Network, Texas City Emergency Co-Ordinator and other local officials. During periods of crisis or emergency, you are required to react immediately to plan, organize, and execute the proper corrective actions.
You will be responsible for the set-up and establishment of the facility organization and work processes, using Air Products Management Systems as the foundation, as well as the identification of new systems, tools, skills and processes based upon the, new to AP, ammonia systems and the asset ownership split of the integrated facility.
You are responsible for maximizing the asset utilization, minimization operating costs and process performance management for the facility to meet customer requirements safely, efficiently, and reliably.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
• The preferred candidate should have an engineering degree or equivalent.
• Minimum 15 years manufacturing experience in a refinery, chemical plant, ammonia plant, or an operation of equivalent complexity.
• A minimum 5 years ammonia plant experience is essential.
• Experience with a facility start-up situation preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across broad range of operational, technical, and commercial areas.
• Demonstrated commitment in the successful EH&S management of chemical processes and facilities.
