Position Description

The AI Cloud Architect is a key contributor to the success of the AI Medical Imaging team, the IWCS business unit, and Change Healthcare (CHC). This individual will lead all cloud-related strategic and operational aspects for the team and will provide data science expertise with the goal of creating commercial-level AI solutions. He/she will be responsible for the design and implementation of AI operations from data pipeline to integration into the end product. The AI cloud architect will also participate in designing and developing AI algorithms to optimize medical, sales and technical support workflows as well as improve patient outcome and increase radiologist productivity.

The AI Medical Imaging team is responsible for creating AI enabled solutions, maintaining a culture of innovation, and providing subject matter expertise for the benefit of Change Healthcare. While the AI Medical Imaging team has stakeholders throughout the business unit, it works most closely with academic and industrial partners and those parts of the organization responsible for product conception, design and development. The AI cloud architect will work cross-functionally with abovementioned stakeholders and the enterprise imaging architect to ensure cloud solutions for the team are in line with the enterprise imaging architecture plan and fulfill Company’s business needs.


  • Develop strategic initiatives with cloud partners and customers to integrate and co-develop AI solutions
  • Lead team’s strategic, technical and operational cloud-based development initiatives. Responsible for
    • finding the best tech solution among all possible to solve the existing AI business problem
    • managing team’s software, hardware and cloud solutions
    • optimizing team’s cloud data pipeline
    • adding and managing test automation
    • managing AI deployments on the cloud and on premise
    • orchestrating AI product integration with product teams
    • harmonizing team’s software tools, code stream management, coding guidelines, and development processes
    • developing strategy to implement re-usable libraries
    • interfacing with product architects and external partners to contribute to the development of an API for AI
  • Seek out opportunities to leverage technical synergies with other Change Healthcare AI teams
  • Act as scrum master as needed for AI development projects
  • Assist with the collection, organization, and curation of datasets for AI projects
  • Develop machine learning models that can be easily transferred from research to commercialization
  • Assist in training broader IWCS team to cloud-based AI
  • Act as an internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) on cloud operations

Minimum Requirement (Required):

  • 8+ years as software architect or equivalent IT director role in the healthcare industry
  • 8+ years of experience in software design, architecture and Agile development
  • 5+ years of cross-functional team leadership experience
  • 5+ years in cloud development and DevOps, with a track record of developing a scalable SaaS Platform in the cloud for healthcare data analytics
  • 5+ years in IT project management
  • 3+ years of practical experience of developing machine learning models

Critical Skills (Required):

  • 3+ years of programming experience in Python or JS
  • 2+ years of experience with machine learning toolkits (TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Keras)
  • 1+ year experience applying cloud storage and cloud computing tools for machine learning workflows
  • 1+ year of experience applying deep learning architectures such as CNN, RNN, GAN, and reinforcement learning
