Job Summary
The Bond & Specialty Insurance IT organization seeks a talented Software Developer to join our Claim Agile Release Train. You will work on a Feature Team following the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and will be responsible for assisting in the development, maintenance, testing and support of Bond Claim applications. You are a talented software developer with at least 3+ years of development lifecycle experience utilizing Visual Studio, C#, ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript, and SQL Server. You enjoy seeking opportunities to be a technical advocate to develop, design, and influence strategic software applications. You stay on top of the latest technology trends and have a passion for responsive web, web services and API enabled architecture. Your Day
As a member of a Feature Team, you will work collaboratively under general supervision to perform programming, configuring, and/or analysis of Claim applications. You will have the autonomy to experiment in the spirit of Agile and Lean – do what works, try new things, and stop doing what doesn’t work. Our current tech stack includes VB.NET, C#, HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC, SQL Server, WCF, WebAPI, Micro-service architectures, JQuery, SoapUI, JMeter, Node.js, Angular.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • With your team, engage end users as well as key stakeholders to understand business problems and user needs.
  • Active participation in brainstorming solution options to address prioritized pain points.
  • System programming and analysis tasks of intermediate complexity within a single system or group of small systems.
  • Performing analysis, design, programming, and configuration functions with a high degree of accuracy and speed.
  • Performs analysis, assessment, and resolution for defects and incidents of intermediate complexity and escalates appropriately.
  • Builds effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Utilizes business knowledge to explain technical activities in business terms.
  • Seeks opportunities to expand technical knowledge and capabilities.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced employees.
  • Applies knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions within the context of assigned projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. 3 years of programming/development experiencerequired.

Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. 5 years of programming/development experiencepreferred.

Environmental/Work Schedules/Other
Requires weekend work hours. Requires overnight work hours. Requires holiday work hours (Federal and religious). Requires extended periods (1 or more weeks) of travel as needed. Requires travel up to 5% of time.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in an Agile Team environment
Experience with:

  • Paired Programming
  • Test Driven Development using MSTest, NUnit and/or XUnit
  • Trunk-based development, Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery
  • Source control practices leveraging SVN, Git, Team Foundation or similar
  • SQL Server design concepts and development
  • VB.NET, .Net Core, C#, HTML, CSS3, JavaScript and ASP.NET MVC
  • Web based frameworks: JQuery, Node.js, or Angular
  • Web service development using WCF, WebAPI and Micro-service architectures

Physical Requirements
