Overview
We’re looking for a Manager of Release Engineering to work with this team and continue to innovate our release process, as well as manage projects with cross-functional teams. This individual will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing software releases for our Media Services Engineering Team on the Akamai network.

This person must be a self-starter and be able to manage and prioritize many tasks at any given time. The person must have good communication skills, have the ability to provide technical leadership and follow up with groups across the company. S/He should also be comfortable working in a fast-paced technical environment. Demonstrated attention to detail and follow-through are key requirements. The candidate is expected to have strong background on CI/CD environments and influential with our process innovation. Managing streaming software releases to completion and staying on top of the Scrum/Release Operational metrics is the key deliverable for this position.

As a Manager of Release Engineering you will:
* Manage a talented team of Scrum Masters/Release Engineers in Santa Clara and Bangalore
* Proactively identify hurdles in the release process, drive the release process/SDLC changes and enforce the process with various stake holders
* Transform the release process to maximize efficiency and quality of code and influential with the CI/CD initiatives and process innovation within the team.
* Plan, coordinate, and manage Akamai Media Services software releases.
* Build and maintain test infrastructure based on understanding of Akamai's systems and software.
* Quickly work through complex issues on the production network and test networks.
* Communicate with software engineers, QA engineers, and operations staff on schedules and priorities and ensure the releases are on track
* Understand and enforce Akamai-defined Sarbanes-Oxley software release controls.
* Obtain a sufficient high level understanding of Akamai's systems and software.
* Use Agile/Scrum process and best practices to ensure the successful planning and delivery of products, projects, and releases.
* Participate in and refine the full software development lifecycle for various development teams and software releases.

About the Team
The candidate will be part of the highly skilled Media Services Engineering team that's responsible for developing and testing the Streaming components of Akamai's world-wide network, one of the largest distributed systems in the world. This team uses Agile Software Development methodologies to build and test Akamai’s state-of-the-art OTT offerings. Our software integrates and supports industry leading Streaming technologies and provides a video streaming platform for the world’s leading content providers.

Required Education and Experience:
* 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelors degree or
* 6 years of relevant experience and a Masters degree

Required Skills
* 8+ years experience with release engineering or broad experience with the software development lifecycle.
* 8+ years experience working in a Linux/Unix environment.
* 5+ years experience using source control systems such as Perforce and GIT.
* 5+ years experience working with cross functional teams to accomplish software release goals.
* 5+ years of Agile/Scrum experience
* 5+ years experience with scripting languages (Perl or Python).
* 3+ years in direct people management

* Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
* Ability to apply detail-oriented focus to quickly solve problems.
* Strong team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Experience with the Atlassian Tools such as JIRA/Confluence.

* Knowledge of Internet technologies (DNS, HTTP, streaming, web servers, etc.) a strong plus.
* Hands-on technical experience is a strong plus.
