The Role
The Agile Governance & Training Lead plays a key role in the Portfolio team in leading an Agile at scale transformation. This function utilizes experiences in Agile and other methodologies, acting as a “change agent” and servant leader to provide governance and training, as well as coaching agile product teams, cross-functional teams, and leaders at all levels across the digital organization. With a hands-on Agile experience, tools, methods, and expertise, drives the required cultural transformation by leading the adoption of new ways of working.
Responsibilities
Works with Digital Project & Portfolio Management to identify concentration areas of focus to define, communicate, and scale Agile methods and best practices.
Supports and becomes the champion of the definition, adoption, and implementation of an Agile Scaling Framework as the underlying methodology leveraged.
As an expert in Agile methods and best practices, leads, consults, and coaches the organization to unlock value, eliminate waste, and streamline processes, focusing on core foundational practices, including building incremental learning into the day to day mindset of what we do.
Plans, develops, organizes, and facilitates delivery of training classes and workshops on agile practices, techniques, and ceremonies ensuring all teams understand their role and purpose while aligning them to an Agile scaling framework.
Implements processes, practices, and recommends tools and technologies best suited to enable commitment to a flow of information, better visibility, and allows us to connect strategy to delivery.
Establish and maintains a working repository for all governance/PMO information for access of best practices and procedures across numerous Agile teams.
Assists in developing processes to enable key metrics at the Agile Teams level, and across supporting operational teams to bring visibility to and alignment with organizational goals for budget, customer satisfaction, capacity, business agility, time to market, continuous delivery, and others.
Works to enable continuous improvement techniques and rolls-out policies to ensure quality and commitment to our customer and the organization’s mission are achieved.
Throughout the life of a product cycle, provide coaching and oversight and monitor team’s progress to ensure alignment with Agile methods and best practices.
Responsible for working with product delivery leads to standardize Agile team reporting and metrics for enterprise-level information radiators.
Assists in formulating team policies, procedures, and team performance management processes and measures.
Manages risk evaluation/analysis, risk management, and compliance management processes within teams, and across the portfolio.
Establishes training curriculums and tracks training and certifications and budgeting requirements across resources, internal and external.
Ensure that projects promote sustainable development, apply systems-thinking, continuous attention to technical excellence and design, and other Agile values.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
10+ years related experience working in project/program management
Experience working in a large Agile organization applying Scrum or Kanban
Experience facilitating and delivering workshops or in a similar training role
Agile Scrum experience / ScrumMaster, or similar role
CSM (Certified Scrum Master) or Scaled Agile equivalent; ACP / PMP certification a plus
Ability to coach, mentor, manage, and lead with tenacity.
Enthusiasm for Lean & Continuous Improvement; ability to communicate this at the core.
Expertise and understanding of portfolio planning, budget planning, financial management and resource management.
Must have experience in managing process-oriented implementations/programs.
Comfort with ambiguity and facilitating discussions on any topic at any level.
Strong business acumen, business planning skills, and leadership capability.
Significant past interaction with cross-functional areas and across other business & technology portfolios.
Verbal and written communications skills with the ability to translate information into understandable terms to a variety of audiences.
