The Site Director/Camp Director is responsible for the administration and operation of one after school program/ one day camp.
General function includes
- Hiring, scheduling and supervising staff
- Supervision and care of children
- Development and implementation of an age appropriate, high quality after school program
- Ensure high quality curriculum and programming planning
- Strive for continuous program improvement at all times
- Develop relationships with parents, school officials and the wider community
- Marketing and recruitment to maintain attendance in the program, using the mission based sales approach
- Recruitment and staff support to the Annual Giving Campaign
- Oversee and manage the program budget
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Consistently work to deepen family, school, and community relationships
- Intentionally connect community, staff and families to the local Y Branch
- Know and greet each parent/family member by name
- Meet regularly with school site personnel
- Promote cross-programming to all child care/after school/camp families
- Actively participate in local branch activities as defined to advance staff connections to the branch and branch connections to the community

- Design monthly curriculum to include daily lesson plans using association planning templates
- Practice strong youth development principles including engaging youth in program planning and leadership
- Align all activities to the common core academic standards

- Create strong lesson plans and coach staff to high quality programming
- Produce a monthly newsletter and curriculum calendar.
- Maximize participation in impact measurements (e.g. SEER survey, Fitness grams, healthy behavior surveys, grant data, etc.)
- Demonstrate program growth, participant retention, program quality, community impact and, member and staff satisfaction
- Use impact measurement results to continuously improve programs
- Maximize capacity for the program
- Deliver programs and activities that align with the HEPA (healthy eating and physical activity) standards
- Be responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the center.
- Maintain adequate program and food supplies to insure a high quality program.
- Advance key initiatives and projects to advance the strategic plan throughout the program
- Pursue program innovations to meet the needs of the community
- Implement hunger programs to support youth and families
Staff and Volunteer Development
- Demonstrate the ability and competencies to lead others in order to achieve the outcomes in creating an impact
- Increase staff and volunteer capability and motivation through recruitment, development, leadership, evaluation and interactive feedback
- Meet twice a month with each staff member in one-on-one meeting.
- Continuously assess staff developmental needs
- Coach to develop their skills and competencies
- Provide opportunities for staff to train and build job skills and competencies
- Provide opportunities to build competencies for career advancement
- Motivate and empower staff through positive interactions and a positive work environment
- Implement action items to maintain high staff satisfaction
- Collaborate across regions to support the organization in the pursuit of high program quality
- Maintain a positive attitude and conduct with total staff team as a positive adult role model including supporting developmental assets within the community.
- Contribute to efforts to make the Y a "Best place to work" for staff and program volunteers
Strong preference will be given to Spanish speakers
Education and Experience Requirements:
- 48 college units or successful completion of the school district's paraprofessional assessment
- A minimum of one year successfully working in a youth development program
- Bilingual in Spanish

- Possess Health and Safety certificate (includes Pediatric First Aid and CPR).
- Complete YMCA child abuse prevention and injury and illness prevention training within 30 days of hire.

- This position is considered to have a supervisory or disciplinary relationship over minors.
- Employees working in the Youth Development Department in the fall, have the opportunity to work year round in different programs. Contact your immediate supervisor to discuss summer placements. All vacation requests shall take into consideration based on the organizational needs, and must have the approval of your immediate supervisor.
The physical demands of the position include:
- Visual and auditory ability to observe and to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.

Protecting the Organization
- Adhere to all association policies, best practices and requirements in risk and safety, fiscal stewardship, internal organizational and external regulatory compliance to protect the health and reputation of the YMCA of Silicon Valley.
- Rigorous adherence to safety and care and supervision protocols
- Follow grant requirements without fail in each site.
- Manage all paperwork and web-based work in an accurate and timely manner
- Adhere to procedures to managing enhancement grants
- Ensure ADA compliance
- Ensure support and compliance to the HEPA standards and effective practices
- Ensure that all business practices meet guidelines and deadlines in a timely manner including monthly reports, payroll, business accounting (including timely processing of invoices) and month end paperwork.
- Assist in the collection of payments as requested by the Program Director.
- Reduce risk related incidents (program participants and staff/worker's compensation)
- Conduct ongoing program evaluation measured against the branch strategic plan and mapping process
- Ensure knowledge and accuracy of administration, personnel, accounting, payroll, grant reporting, and other fiscal matters
- Manage personnel so as to not put the organization at risk.
- Maintain appropriate documentation as needed for performance management
- Adhere to association cash control procedures
- Adhere to association marketing/communication guidelines
- Monitor facility safety, cleanliness, preventative maintenance, and request appropriate and timely repairs
