Description Job Description: Leidos is seeking a qualified Business Development Manager to support long-range strategy development, business development and capture, and proposal management in the field of autonomy for airborne, ground, maritime, and space domains. The candidate will also support the Dynetics Group with advanced Research and Development activities and opportunities at the Air Force Research Laboratory.
Position Responsibilities: A successful candidate will have experience with prototyping and delivering autonomous solutions in a range of technology areas including: perception and situational understanding, planning and decision-making, behavior and action execution, collaboration, and manned-unmanned teaming. The candidate should also have deep knowledge of DoD systems, missions, CONOPS and organizations. As well as the ability to communicate effectively about autonomy and AI with a broad range of audiences, from internal leaders to external customers and from sophisticated AI researchers to those with little or no relevant background. The Autonomy BD Manager will be able effectively navigate the complicated lexicon associated with autonomy, artificial intelligence, and machine learning and be able to distinguish between various applications of AI and machine learning technologies as they apply to the development of autonomous systems beyond just automated or automatic systems. The BD manager will also be fluent in enabling technologies for autonomous systems such as networking technologies and standards-based open system architectures (e.g., OMS, FACE, UCI, Android) as well as a working knowledge of many areas of AI (Machine Learning, Bayesian, fuzzy, Dempster-Shafer, or symbolic reasoning).
Duties include, but are not limited to strategic planning, target identification, qualification of targets, aiding / coaching / mentoring / assisting stakeholders in developing capture campaign plans, identifying, prioritizing, scheduling, and accomplishing tasks to capture work, and actively participating in proposals.
The business developer will coordinate efforts within Dynetics Group and across Leidos organizations to identify and capture cooperative opportunities. The BD Manager will maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities and execute cost effective win strategies to achieve annual financial objectives. The position requires the ability to work vertically and horizontally across organizational boundaries, provide BD leadership/mentorship and guidance to operational organizations and interface with financial and contracts support personnel supporting proposal development and business capture processes. Other duties include management of business development resources (Bid & Proposal and Overhead), data gathering and analysis of return on investment.
Basic Qualifications - Degree in the STEM, specifically in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Math from an ABET-accredited university is required.
- BS degree with at least 15+ years of experience.
- Requires Capture/Business Development experience.
- Knowledge of Department of Defense, AFRL, DARPA, IARPA, AMRDEC, and the Intelligence Community.
- Familiarity with newer DOD Innovation offices and initiatives such as SCO, AF/RCO, AFWERX, Army Futures Command, and others
- D eep technical knowledge and experience with artificial intelligence technologies and tools
- Must possess outstanding oral and written skills.
- Must have demonstrated success in developing capture strategies and executing capture plans.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, and Word are required.
- Up to 25% travel
- Residency in the Dayton, Ohio area is preferred but candidates in the area of Hunstville, Alabama or Arlington, Virginia may be considered.
- Security Requirements Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (as well as maintain) a Secret Clearance. A Top Secret/SCI clearance will be required after employment has begun.
