Our Columbus Tech Center of Emissions Control Technologies is looking for an Advanced Product Engineering Specialist to be based in Columbus, Indiana.

The Product Engineer interfaces with the Program Manager, Program Development Leader (PDL), Product Development Team, Mfg Site, and Purchasing to ensure completion of Value Engineering (VA/VE) / Cost down tasks and the Acquisition Deliverables from Faurecia's Program Management System (PMS).

Purpose

Develop advanced product engineering methodologies in the areas of Finite Element Analysis and Durability. Update existing methodologies by incorporating advancements in Numerical methods, FEA, durability testing, machine learning, Artificial Intelligence, IOT and next gen optimization algorithms.

Responsibilities

The position is responsible for developing new methodologies in FEA /durability areas and support CVE after treatment and new product developments in Innovation. He/she is responsible for working within a product development team to deliver effective solutions within the project timescales:

Specific responsibilities are

  • Watch for application of new technologies like smart design, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence, IOT, design space exploration in engineering product development.
  • Create and update existing FEA/Durability methodologies by incorporating advanced technologies
  • Development, improvement and deployment of FEM Tools
  • Generate reports / presentations compiling test or analysis results.
  • Work with global team in deployment of Simulation Data Management
  • Identify and define CAE process Automation possibilities and delegate to global team for execution
  • Develop and document standard working practices
  • Interface and work closely with FEA & durability specialists in our global R & D teams to share knowledge.
  • Support development teams regarding non-standard applications
  • Conduct Training on FEA methods for global FEA users in Faurecia Clean Mobility
  • Technical communication with the customers
  • Realization and analysis of test campaigns (road load, vibration, thermal shock)

Validation & adjustment of the durability & fatigue tools

The ideal candidate will have/be:

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and Competencies) :Master degree or Ph.D in mechanical engineering or related disciplines

Durability / FEA theory and application. Intermediate or advanced knowledge of fatigue based damage analysis tools

Expertise in Optimization and design exploration techniques

Knowledge in FEA, vibration dynamics, thermo mechanics, rubber isolator specifications, flex joints, damping phenomenon, lifetime prediction, accelerometers, strain gauges

Functions of combustion engines & exhaust systems

Joining technology and materials

Spoken and written English communication.

Total 8 years of experience in automotive area with minimum 5 years in FEA and durability analysis and testing
