  • Primary Function :
  • In collaboration with the Site Practice Administrator, Department Chairs/Division Chiefs, and NCSC leadership, this position oversees the strategic, administrative, financial and operational activities of the their assigned departments. Particular emphasis on coordinating efficiencies and goals with Nemours Children's Hospital, Hospital Partnerships, and Florida Network operations.
  • Essential Functions:
  • Works with the Department Chairs and Division Chiefs to provide strategic, administrative, financial and operational oversight for assigned department (s) by providing support in the development of strategic growth objectives, communication, and implementation of department/division operational goals and objectives including the development of business plans and proformas for new programs which may also include capital equipment, justification for new physicians and/or mid-level providers and other ancillary staffing support. In collaboration with the NCH Chief Medical Officer, Site Practice Administrator, Department Chairs/Chiefs, and Hospital Operations, is responsible for the creation of and delivering a balanced annual operating budget (s) for assigned areas, routine monitoring of the budget (s), and identifying countermeasures to ensure the practice is meeting annual financial goals for areas of assign responsibility as well as the development of capital budget request and supporting the linkages between the hospital and practice. Collaborates with the Florida Chief Medical Officer, NCH Chief Medical Officers, Florida Practice Administrator, Site Practice Administrator and Department Chairs, to ensure provider compensation is in line with benchmarks and monitors quarterly physician compensation reporting. Actively participates in cross campus collaboration as is relates to the overall Florida Margin improvement efforts by leading A3 projects to identify cost effective revenue enhancements and expense reductions to be implemented across campuses to support operating margin improvement efforts across Florida operations. Promotes all aspects of Nemours True North by leading and participating in continuious improvement efforts through the Daily Management Systems, attending tiered huddles, serving as a coach for assigned areas and interacting with other departments which may also include hospital administration to resolve daily problems, improve coordination of systems and processes as it relates to mutual goal attainment. Identify trends and develop and implement countermeasures by working with Nurse Managers and Operations Managers to deliver performance goals in charge capture/delays, chart closure/documentation, staffing ratios, revenue and expenses, clinical volumes, RVU productivity, Patient Satisfaction, Quality & Service Metrics, etc. Support quality outcomes by ensuring safe work practices are used by all providers of the department/division and promote a positive work attitude within the department by treating team members and other associates with respect, dignity, and fairness while maintaining accountability. Operational oversight of all contracts and grants associated with assigned department(s). I.e. Contracts related to recruiting contracted physicians services, non-Research grants, Operating contracts etc. Has a cooperative relationship with other leaders across the Nemours system to further support integration and to ensure strategic objectives are met. Serves in a direct reporting relationship for Executive Assistants who support areas of operational oversight, contracted physicians, contracted ancillary staff as well as other professional level staff as defined by the Department Chair or Site Practice Administrator. Also, serves in an indirect reporting relationship for Operations Managers and is committed to teaching, coaching, and mentoring both groups and provides input into the Operations Manager's Performance Management evaluations. All other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements:
  • - Masters in a graduate business or health administration discipline is preferred.
  • - Relevant experience in the presentation of written and oral materials, interaction with Senior Administration and Medical Staff and self-directed project completion.
  • - Demonstrated record of progressively responsible administrative experience in health care, preferably pediatric or specialty related.
  • - At least five years of experience
  • - Proven track record of working collaboratively with physician and administrative leadership.
  • - Demonstrated success in applying performance improvement methodologies and project team facilitation.
