The Additive Manufacturing Project Engineer position reports to the Project Engineering Chief for Advanced Development Programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading efforts to move legacy component designs to additive.
  • This includes detail planning and execution to assure that all critical program milestones are met and identifying the team resources required to execute the detailed component plan through design, development, manufacture, qualification and entry into revenue service.
  • Lead multiple integrated development teams (IPD) consisting of product line project, design, drafting, manufacturing, quality, procurement as well as other functions.
  • Work with IPD team to assure that requirements are met and verified, and significant risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Plan and maintain detailed schedule and resource plan which accurately outlines all tasks required to assure that all program and product development milestones are met.
  • Manage assigned budget and identify and report any issues or changes in scope that would impact meeting the budget or schedule.
  • Guide the team through the evaluation of the product’s TRL and MRL levels and establishing a plan to attain the appropriate technology readiness level per program requirements.
  • Responsible for reporting of component team’s progress, challenges and solution strategies to customer and Engineering leadership.
  • Work closely with the program and/or discipline chief and assure that the IPD team satisfies entrance criteria prior to holding design reviews.
  • Work closely with the Additive Lab or COE to ensure component designs are able to be manufactured.
  • Define required component testing for development and certification.
  • Work with selected test facility (internal or external) to assure that test rigs and instrumentation meet requirements of test procedures.
  • Document new standard work processes of changes required to existing processes for additive.
  • Wiling to travel up to 10% of the time.

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience / Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading projects and a multi-functional IPT teams including (but not limited to) task planning and execution on the schedules and budgets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
