Actuarial Analyst - 1

New York, NY New York, NY; Morristown, NJ; Seattle, WA; Philadelphia, PA; Minneapolis, MN

Job Summary:

The main responsibility is to organize, clean and analyse data to help in the delivering of actuarial and financial modeling consulting services to colleagues and clients. Independently perform medium to high complexity mathematical and actuarial calculations to work with Brokers and Senior Analytical Staff to provide solutions to client needs.

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Model the probability distributions of the gross/ceded/net underwriting results of an insurance company client based on an actuarial analysis of frequency and severity focusing on a large losses using Global Analytics proprietary software.
  • Analyze how the distribution of results and relevant risk measures change as a result of application on various proposed reinsurance alternatives.
  • Utilize cost/benefit analysis to advise brokers and clients "optimal" reinsurance programs based on risk tolerance level.
  • Evaluate historical experience of treaties for use in negotiation of renewals and commutations.
  • Respond to client queries and concerns, resolving issues promptly.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Document all external correspondence and telephone conversations in accordance with GC procedures, including where appropriate, GC Professional Standards guidelines minimizing the potential for errors and omissions. Update management on issues, progress, etc., regularly and upon request.
  • Provide active coaching and day to day supervision to newly hired employees (Actuarial Analyst I) on GC Analytics tools, methods, and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, skills & abilities)

  • Understand the reinsurance pricing methods (experience and exposure rating) and know when it is appropriate to use these methods.
  • Good technical knowledge in reinsurance terms and conditions, and simulation modeling.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining good client and internal relationships
  • Strong ability to assist manager in prioritizing workload according to volume, urgency, etc.
  • Strong ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong ability to be organized and pay attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills for using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and Outlook.
  • Strong ability to maintain compliance with professional standards, where applicable, as well as company-

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (Submission Summary)

1.     Bachelors degree in Actuarial Science or related quantitative field such as Mathematics or Statistics.

2.     3 - 6years of relevant insurance/ reinsurance experience performing Actuarial analysis.

3.     Completed 3 - 4Actuarial exams.

4.     Strong computer skills for using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and Outlook.

5.     Understand the reinsurance pricing methods (experience and exposure rating) and know when it is appropriate to use these methods.

   6. Good technical knowledge in reinsurance terms and conditions, and simulation modeling.
