Job Summary:

Manager is responsible for providing the strategic expertise to lead the accounts payable operations.  The Manager will be responsible for the accounts payable processes to support the growing needs of the organization, compliance with internal control procedures, ensuring timely invoice processing and monitoring metrics, developing AP departmental personnel, fielding & resolving questions and issues presented, managing relationships with vendors and otherinternal departments, and identifying and executing improvement/enhancement projects.

This role will require approximately 50% travel to Midland, TX.

Job Duties:

  • Strategic Planning
    • Effectively oversee accounts payable operations (includes team members in both Las Colinas and Midland)
    • Assess and evaluate existing department procedures and processes
    • Identify innovation and process improvement opportunities
    • Lead projects that implement process, procedure, system and quality improvement initiatives
    • Reduce invoice processing cost per invoice
    • Monitor department staffing levels and structure
    • Identify system design and implementation opportunities
  • Supervising Invoice Processing
    • Identify and evaluate key department metrics
    • Establish and monitor reporting deadlines
    • Ensure daily compliance with Code of Conduct, policies, procedures, internal controls and GAAP
    • Review journal entries, AP entries, account reconciliations, etc.
    • Proactively manage department upwards and downwards
    • Effectively delegate assignments/responsibilities
  • Personnel Development & People Management
    • Implement development and training opportunities within the department
    • Implement cross-training / rotational opportunities within department
    • Train supervisor(s)/staff as needed on applicable systems and AP processes
  • Managing Relationships
    • Interact with all accounting and operational teams: Treasury, Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, IT, Asset Operations, JIB/Revenue Accounting, Tax, Risk Management, HR/Administration, Legal, Corporate Security, etc. in order to coordinate initiatives and resolve all issues
    • Facilitate, lead and/or actively participate in department and/or company activities, teams and/or initiatives
    • Interacts with internal and external auditor to fulfill/resolve questions and document requests

Qualifications:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Must have at least 8years’ cumulative experience working in Accounting; minimum of 7 years Big 4 experience in those areas may be considered in lieu of 8years’ experience
  • Must have at least 3 years’ cumulative experience supervising a team
  • Excellent written & verbal communication, leadership, process improvement, organization, planning and supervisor skills are required
  • Must be willing to work with and lead various personnel to work together as a team
  • Must be able to support and work on multiple projects / assignments simultaneously
  • Must be able to effectively delegate in an effort to develop the team’s skillsets
  • CPApreferred
  • Oil & gas experiencepreferred
  • Knowledge of OpenInvoice, Oracle and HFM would definitely be a plus
