The Accounting Manager based out of our Air Manufacturing Innovation (Air MI) Beaverton facility will play a critical role ensuring accurate and timely recording and reporting of operating results and financial performance. We have a dynamic and complementary team tasked to complete complex global projects which bring value to Nike. An excellent communicator is a crucial attribute to communicate with our teammates and contacts at World Headquarters and in Vietnam. We are looking for a self-starter with new ideas to enhance our team. The Controlling Function is evolving rapidly to support the growth of Air MI and this role will work closely with various Nike stakeholders for implementing more efficient and centralized processes while maintaining a well-controlled environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Plan, coordinate and participate in all Controlling functions, ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations, laws, and generally accepted accounting procedures
  • Develop and enhance processes while partnering with cross functional teams
  • Participate in month, quarter and year end close processes, including variance analyses, account reconciliations, and financial schedules, with a specific focus on Inventory and Costing
  • Own and drive improvements on Inventory & Costing processes, including the flow of data through the IT systems, cycle counting procedures, and overall accounting analyses
  • Drive improvements on Capital Expenditures and Assets Under Construction, including month-end close processes and deliverables
  • Prepare and provide analysis on financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Support teammates with cross-training and exposure to all areas of Air MI Controlling
  • Collaborate and support Financial Planning team with Inventory and Costing, Capital Expenditures, and Assets Under Construction, workstreams
  • Be a trusted business partner; review financial results with planning and business leadership and advise on financial implications of business decisions
  • Maintain SAP systems for routine activity and project support
  • Maintain and drive continuous improvement on owned processes to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness
  • Own and drive improvement in documentation, evolution and monitoring of internal controls.
  • Drive and develop more complex accounting projects and functional initiatives within Finance and /or cross functional teams.
  • Develop high profile, influential and reciprocal relationships across teams, functions and dimensions of the business
  • Support of major plant initiatives and providing technical expertise and creation of procedures


  • Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of directly relevant work experience in accounting or finance.
  • Diverse experience including national or large regional public accounting firm and combination of plant level and corporate finance preferred.
  • CPA or MBA is preferred
  • US GAAP expertise
  • Hands on manufacturing industry experience is preferred.
  • Detailed understanding of SAP, particularly in Inventory and Costing processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives.
  • Ability to work reciprocally in matrix organization to maximize performance, problem solve and deliver results.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with an ability to effectively communicate status, issues, and risks with senior leadership team

  • Travel required 10-15%.
