Retail Client Development Account Manager

Position Overview:
Our Retail Business Group team is currently seeking an Account Manager who is responsible for growing the on-site relationship between NPD and a tier one retailer focused in the beauty industry.  In this role, you will aid in building actionable, data driven insights, manage and grow the client relationship, and contribute to P&L management.

This position requires on site presence at the account in San Francisco, CA, requiring periodic travel to NPD’s corporate office in Port Washington.

Overall Responsibilities:

• We are the experts our clients expect us to be. Deliver meaningful, actionable insights and analysis on retail trends and their industry segments by leveraging NPD’s portfolio & industry expertise.

• Ensure overall client satisfaction by proactively relating NPD data and industry trends to business opportunities.

• Develop a deep understanding of NPD’s portfolio & data assets and know how they can be used together to provide holistic insights and recommendations.

• Partner with the client on key their strategies and support expansion of critical actionable insights into new functional areas.

• Ownership of client’s market share insights to be shared throughout the organization
• Learn how the client works with manufacturers and support their collaboration & mutual success.

• Operate in a collaborative team environment providing support and cross-functional training as needed

• Independently seek out resources within the client and at NPD to help resolve issues.


Qualifications:

• 5+ years’ experience in client service, retail buying, retail analyst, strategic manufacturer, market research or equivalent.

• Corporate retailexperience with exposure to point-of-sale data, consumer data, and longitudinal data as well as a deep understanding of the insights needed to shed light on the end-to-end customer journey.

• Dynamic skill set, excellent relationship-building and listening skills; ability to effectively discern and deliver on client needs.
• Ability to synthesize data and develop meaningful conclusions/insights using several data resources. 
• Confidence in presentation skills with a high comfort level presenting to large groups and senior audiences.

• Solid organizational and project management skills; ability to manage and deliver on multiple project deliverables simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-faceted and long-term projects

• Drive to take ownership and dedication to problem solving

• Genuine passion for retail, products, and trends

• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint.

• Data visualization to support insights, experience with Tableau is a plus.

• Experience with SAS is a bonus
• Travel typically <15%

Communication 

The ideal candidate must be able to conduct engaging and impactful presentations that deliver value to the client while telling a compelling story in a concise and polished manner to a diverse audience.

Most importantly, the candidate must demonstrate the ability to listen to the customer and appropriately match the customer's needs with NPD’s products and services, or be willing to direct the customer to the best solution.

Relationships 

The ideal candidate must be comfortable and effective when talking with a broad range of decision influencers and decision makers within an organization. The candidate will be able to effectively understand and build relationships throughout the prospective customer's organization.
