We are seeking a highly driven, passionate and experienced individual to develop lead the production management function for HPE 3PAR. This will include product strategy and requirements, new product introductions and lifecycle management for a range of highly differentiated, industry leading products for HPE 3PAR Storage.

The HPE Storage Division delivers industry-leading intelligent data storage solutions to customers as they transform their data centers for today’s global markets. A central component of the portfolio is HPE 3PAR Storage – Flash-optimized storage designed to deliver the performance, affordability and enterprise-class features required by the most demanding mission critical environments virtual, cloud and IT-as-a-Service environments.

Core Role Responsibilities

The Director Product Management for HPE 3PAR is responsible for providing portfolio leadership and roadmap definition for key 3PAR hardware and software products.

This position will have reporting to it Product Line Managers for 3PAR Hardware, 3PAR Software and senior individual contributors for Strategy, Operations and Field Engagement.

Externally, this role will work closely with customers, industry and financial analysts, key technology partners and be seen as one of the primary voices for the 3PAR Product Portfolio.

The individual who fills this position must be able to:

  • Inspire and lead a team that is skilled at developing business case analysis, roadmap, competitive pricing modeling, Market Requirements Documents (MRDs) and bottoms up “what if” simulations for projecting hypothetical business outcomes.
  • “Cradle to Grave” product life cycle planning including researching and keeping up with key trends; developing breakthrough products, ensuring that these ideas are based on customer and field inputs; new product introductions and managing “End of Life”

In conjunction with the leaders of product engineering and key architects, this role will be keenly involved in setting the direction and strategic product roadmap

This position is a key “spokesperson” for 3PAR and ensures strategic messages are integrated into presentations to end customers, partners and outside media. Interfacing with key customer executives including CIOs and senior IT leaders is imperative to selling HPE’s overall storage and 3PAR vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team: Lead a product management organization of 22 product managers. Provide thought leadership, direction and inspiration to both the direct product management team as well as cross functionally across the value delivery chain.
  • Strategic Product Definition: Out of the box thinking, next generation capabilities for best in class storage products and solutions. Embrace key technological disruptions and capitalize on key trends in Solid State technology, Cloud and Storage Federation, Customer Experience.
  • Grow the business: Extend the existing momentum of the 3PAR portfolio. Build executive support for the roadmap and ensure that it is being executed across engineering organizations.
  • Competitive: Understand the competitive landscape for the external storage market with a key focus in the All Flash Arrays (AFA) segment.
  • Influencing across organizations: Work across organizational boundaries, collaborate with other leaders in cross functional areas
  • Decision making: Drive internal operational processes to improve our product efficiencies and achieve improved ROI for every engineering dollar we spend. Develop crucial business tradeoff analyses and complex simulations which help to provide product portfolio guidance
  • Communication: Evangelize HPE Storage value proposition internally and externally to customers, partners and analysts.

Critical Capabilities for Success:

Strategic Thinking: Ability to understand a rapidly evolving technology marketplace and lead the development of a comprehensive product roadmap. This will manifest itself in having a data-driven approach to understanding customer requirements and market insights and the ability to design distinctive and differentiated product capabilities. Additionally, having made timely and well-informed investment and product portfolio management decisions 3-5 years into the next business cycle.

Execution/Results Orientation: Proactively seeks to improve processes and implement best in class solutions, raising quality and productivity in a calculated way. Benchmarks own performance against industry best practices. This would be evidenced by the ability to make tough and timely product decisions, and a proven track record of the delivery of high quality, key product releases within challenging timeframes.

Collaboration and Influence: Demonstrates the ability to command the respect and trust of key individuals across HPE, customers and industry thought leaders. He or she is able to collaborate cross-functionally with key stakeholders and exercise influence at senior level.

Ideal Experience:

Minimum of 10 years of progressively expanding responsibilities leading technical design teams in storage or related technology areas in servers, cloud, networking.

Demonstrated ability to lead a high energy product management team.

Deep experience within the storage industry delivering on “best of breed” product portfolios which include integrated hardware and software systems.

Proven experience working with customers, channel partners and industry thought leaders towards developing a clear view of a forward product roadmap.

Proven experience building successful relationships with internal leadership at all levels, along with effective interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

Technical undergraduatedegree; preferably in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. MBApreferred
