The Information and Sensor Solutions Business Area provides integrated Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Electronic Warfare (EW), and Information Operations (IO) sensor system solutions for national security customers.

We are seeking a talented software engineer with experience in Java/Swing/JavaFX, Graphical User Interface (GUI) development and integration with server side applications. Vaadin, Java server development and C/C++ experience are desirable, but not mandatory. The efforts we are working on entail the utilization of software techniques to develop cutting edge systems designed for Multi-Intelligence correlation and Human Language Technologies for eventual use by the military services.

Developers must have a visual eye for user interface development and be able to quickly build user interfaces that are functional and appealing. Developers must be able to take a task and given specific requirements implement modules/applications on time and correctly. SNC is always pushing the envelope on new technologies so developers need to be able to research the latest development techniques that industry standard is adopting and implement them with guidance from project leads.

They will be responsible for developing, modifying, testing, and documenting software solutions with a focus on Web based applications. They should also have:
- Eagerness to learn, self-motivated, and works well in a small, high-performing team environment.
- Experience communicating and presenting to technical and managerial staff.
- A genuine drive to develop UI's which provide the best possible UserExperience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Devise, plan, and execute technical activities in accordance with SNC policies, procedures, and work instructions and specific Customer requirements. This includes initiation of programs, as well as generation of Engineering Program Plans (EPPs) in accordance with the Technical Management and Planning (TMAP) process, part of SNC's Integrated Product Development Process (IPDP).

Originate specifications, control documents, verification and validation plans, procedures, reports, or other documentation in support of design and development activities.

Prepare material for, and conduct, periodic design reviews.

Initiate and execute engineering design and development activities consistent with Customer quality, cost and schedule requirements.

Provide estimates of labor hours and material dollars required to accomplish design and development activities.

Punctuality to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Perform other duties as required by Program Manager and Chief Engineer. Travel will vary depending on the phase of the project, but a fair estimate is travel will constitute less than 10% of annual work schedule.

COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)

Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, Salary Reviews, Succession Planning, etc.

Responsible for leadership oversight and for ensuring Department/Team training

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

BS degreerequired in Computer Science or equivalent with emphasis on software development and algorithm design.

A minimum of six years work experience in positions involving design and development of software. Ideal candidate will possess seven to eight years experience as they will report to senior-level software engineers, but all candidates will be considered.

Desired Skills:

Required Skills:

 - Java/Swing/JavaFX experience.

 - Working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.

 - Exposure to J2EE architecture and Single Page Application Frameworks.

Highly Desirable Skills:

 - Javascript, CSS, and HTML experience a big plus.

 - Experience with GUI interface design a big plus.

 - Experience with UI development using GWT and/or Vaadin, or other UI libraries a big plus.

 - Experience with Client/Server distributed software applications a big plus.

 - Experience with both Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems is a plus.

 - Knowledge or exposure to any the following tools/frameworks/technologies is a plus:

-  Eclipse, Maven, SVN, Tomcat, POI, MySQL, PhantomJS,  RESTful Web services, JSON, XML, SQL.
