Sr. Director of Compliance

Ripple is expanding its Compliance team and seeks to hire a Senior Director of Compliance to lead compliance for Ripple’s payment products and services (e.g. BSA and OFAC), cybersecurity matters, and commercial partnerships. This role will also manage Ripple’s vendor risk management program and oversee Ripple’s technology software provider compliance responsibilities. This position will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer.


  • Advise internal and external business clients on compliance and risk considerations for cutting-edge payments products and services (such as xCurrent, xRapid, and xVia), supporting a rapidly-growing global payments technology business
  • Take a hands-on approach in assessing and resolving any compliance or risk issues early in the product development lifecycle, creating scalable and streamlined processes supporting a fast-paced working environment
  • Provide pragmatic compliance advice on strategic product initiatives and complex business partnerships in close collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Own and manage strategic general compliance initiatives, focusing on high growth and global expansion potential
  • Cross-functionally manage Ripple’s vendor risk management program from initial due diligence stage to ongoing monitoring and maturity
  • Advise on regulatory requirements for cybersecurity and data privacy/protection compliance in multiple geographic jurisdictions
  • Monitor global developments in payments and virtual currency regulation; assess and advise on potential impact to Ripple’s product and service roadmap strategy


  • 5-7 years in a previous managerial Compliance position at a global payments institution, preferably within a technology function
  • Comfortable executing independently in a team environment with minimal supervision
  • Solid understanding of general compliance and payments regulation
  • Experienced in developing scalable compliance processes that balance risk versus innovation
  • Highly skilled in cross-functional collaborating with multiple stakeholders, across technical and non-technical groups
  • Results-driven with proven ability to drive cross-functional compliance and risk projects to completion
