Job DescriptionSummary:

The Process Unit/Glovebox Construction Field Engineer 3 or 4 (Construction Technical Services Specialist) is responsible for supporting daily field construction activities related to the process unit/glovebox group on the MOX Project. The individual within this role ensures adherence to design basis and quality requirements for all assigned process unit/glovebox and support installation work. Support for these activities include:

  • Review of Work Packages in planning, working, and closure
  • Provides technical assistance to the Process Unit Supervisor and Superintendent and keeps them informed on matters relating to quality and quality control
  • Champion the commitment to safety, security, environmental, and quality priorities and values throughout the MOX Project
  • Update Work Packages and/or create additional steps for appropriate changes
  • Initiating, reviewing, implementing, and/or dispositioning change requests such as Field Change Notices, Field Change Requests, Nonconformance Reports, Conditioned Reports, and other technical documentation
  • Acquiring and maintaining as-built information for installations
  • Performing field walk-downs and inspections to review work for conformance with design requirements, applicable codes/standards and project procedures
  • Request material transfers and/or material verification from warehouses
  • Updating schedulers/project controls of work completed
  • Coordinating inspection and testing activities
  • General coordination with multiple groups across jobsite (craft, design, QC, subcontractors, etc.)
  • Review/interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other documents
  • Execute the required duties and activities with no technical direction
  • Review/interpret design drawings for constructability
  • Revise and review revisions to project procedures as needed
  • Cross discipline review of design documents and interface with client, vendor, and other disciplines as required
  • Provide clarifications of drawings, specifications, and other technical documents as necessary to support Process Unit Construction
  • Reviews the project schedule and working with the applicable Supervisor and Superintendent, supports work implementation as required
  • Observes and ensures construction practices as required for compliances of construction operations/execution with federal, state, and local codes, industry standards, company procedures, and contractual requirements
  • Achieve successful completion of assigned work responsibilities on time, within budget, schedules, and contract requirements
  • Adhering to and promoting safe work practices
  • Serve as a resource and direct supervisor for training/mentoring colleagues with less experience
  • Report daily, weekly, and/or monthly to Director of Construction Engineering on installed quantities and status

Required Qualifications:

To qualify as a CFE3:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 or more years' experience in Construction Field Engineering or other related industry fields
    OR
  • Associates or Technical Degree with 9 or more years' experience in Construction Field Engineering or other related industry fields
    OR
  • High School Diploma or GED with 11 or more years' experience in Construction Field Engineering or other related industry fields

To qualify as a CFE4:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 7 or more years' experience in Construction Field Engineering or other related industry fields
    OR
  • Associates or Technical Degree with 11 or more years' experience in Construction Field Engineering or other related industry fields
    OR
    High School Diploma or GED with 13 or more years' experience in Construction Field Engineering or other related industry fields

Desired Qualifications:

  • Capable of using basic Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • Contributes to achievement of team goals; promotes teamwork
  • Working knowledge of the Construction process
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills --both written and verbal
  • Capable of using programs such as AutoCAD or MicroStation, SmartPlant, and/or SupportModeler
  • Prior Nuclear experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the Construction process
  • Working knowledge of other discipline scopes, roles, and responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and other Construction related rules and regulations
  • Strong math aptitude, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Experience in construction management, project management, and/or supervision
  • Ability to foster a leadership environment that encourages performance, growth, and satisfaction for employees
  • Organization and delegation capabilities
