About the Job
This role will work to influence key public policies, regulations and build/maintain relationships with relevant Maine/New Hampshire State, local and federal government decision makers in areas that impact TI. Priority areas include policies that advance and help sustain TI’s competitive advantages and ensure the cost effective delivery of products to our customers. Advance TI’s local reputation through citizenship initiatives.
This position is located in South Portland, Maine and will report through Director Government Relations based in Washington D.C.

•Identify, influence and report on Maine and New Hampshire state and local public policies that impact company’s growth and competitiveness with primary focus on Maine. Develop, manage and implement overall advocacy strategy to advance operations and policy objectives.
•Develop, expand and maintain effective working relationships with State, local and Maine and New Hampshire federal lawmakers, relevant regulators, university leaders involved in policy issues and other external influencers and other decision makers as needed.
•Play a leadership role in key trade associations and chambers to leverage them effectively and assure alignment with TI state and local policy priorities - tax, energy/water, research, public education, and environmental issues.
•Engage collaboratively with internal stakeholders and support functions ( tax, legal, facilities, HR, Environmental Safety and Health, research and workforce/education functions, and others) to inform, amplify and strategize on advocacy activities. Facilitate interactions with policymakers as needed.
•Support advocacy of TI’s Federal Government agenda. Work in close coordination with TI Washington DC Office to ensure alignment of key Maine and New Hampshire trade associations and chambers with TI’s federal policy priorities. Maintain working relationships with members of the Maine and New Hampshire Congressional delegations.
•Manage activities related to the TI Political Action Committee (PAC) at site including soliciting eligible employees, organizing employee events as needed, develop the local PAC budget and serving as TI representative at fundraisers.
•Coordinate site visits/tours and external opportunities for MaineFab and New Hampshire management teams to interact with and develop relationships with key policymakers.
•Advance TI’s reputation through MaineFab and New Hampshire Leadership Team engagement in the community and leveraging opportunities that support TI’s citizenship objectives.
•Work closely with the TI Corporate Philanthropy Director, the Corporate Citizenship Director and University Marketing Director on grants and programs that extend to Maine and NH.
•Engage with and maintain relationships with local leaders, community officials and other important external stakeholders, including education leaders and agency volunteer coordinators to strengthen citizenship ties and advance TI’s philanthropic and community volunteerism initiatives.
•Promote volunteerism with the MaineFab workforce and coordinate opportunities for external volunteer engagement. Work with site affinity groups on volunteer efforts as needed.
•As needed, and in coordination with corporate media relations, interact with the press on policy and citizenship activities.

Minimum requirements
•Required Bachelor’s degree, preferred Master’s degree in a related policy field.
•A minimum of seven to ten years of similar issues management experience with a proven track record of securing results in policy related matters.

Preferred qualifications
•Persuasive skills in speaking, presenting writing and strategically positioning the company in policy and regulatory environment.
•The ability to communicate with a wide-range of important stakeholders.
•Excellent networking skills.
•Excellent knowledge of State and Local Government; knowledge of semiconductor industry a plus.
•Excellent event organization and briefing skills.
•Ability to understand complex issues and strategically position TI in an effective manner.
•Quick study; ability to adapt skills.
•Acts with urgency and demonstrates the ability to understand complex policy issues, evaluate and respond.
•Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
•A “can-do” person who takes the initiative and is a problem solver.
•Deep knowledge of State and Local Government processes and politics. Strong, existing relationships with state and local lawmakers.
•Solid understanding of Maine and New Hampshire lobby laws and campaign finance laws working knowledge of federal laws a plus.
•Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, but confident enough to challenge up as appropriate.
•Self-starter who takes the initiative, solves problems, adapts to changing circumstances and acts with urgency as needed.
