Technical:

The engineer is responsible to specify and develop HIL (Hardware In the Loop) verification & validation tests for newly developed control systems and for new application specific configurations (existing firmware with new parameter set) in order to be able to release properly functional control systems. To do so, the engineer will:

  • Analyze the requirements for the control system to be tested
  • Write test specification to test the requirements for the control system to be tested
  • Consult & check with the HIL system development engineers to match the HIL system capability with the test specification requirements
  • Develop the tests according to the test specification in the test management system EXAM
  • Manage and organize the tests in the test management system EXAM for maximum re-usability

 

The engineer is coached to perform black box verification & validation tests for newly developed control systems and for new application specific configurations (existing firmware with new parameter set) to be able to release properly functional control systems. To do so, the engineer will:

  • perform black box tests on a simulator box
  • perform black box tests on a vehicle @ Dana
  • perform black box tests on a vehicle @ the OEM customer site
  • perform black box tests on a HIL test system: setting up and starting up of the HIL system to perform the specific tests; specify and execute the necessary test suites, test cases, test sequences and other needed components in the test management system EXAM
  • perform FMEA tests on a HIL system and a vehicle
  • Analyze the test results and report to the product engineers and control system developers

 

The engineer will participate in idea generation & execution of new improvement project to increase and secure the efficiency, speed & quality of the different product engineering activities and communication. The main area of idea generation and implementation of improvements are all test activity related process flows and documentation, tracking lists.

The job related experience requirements are listed in order of priority.

  • knowledge about embedded control systems
  • knowledge about control logics of Axles/Gearboxes
  • knowledge about on-highway vehicles
    • functionalities of drivelines / drive line systems
    • functionalities of components of drivelines / drive line systems (clutches, valves, axles, control systems)
  • knowledge about test methodologies, systems & tools, with HIL testing in particular
  • knowledge about FMEA & problem solving tools
  • knowledge about modern communication technology in vehicles (CAN bus …)
  • knowledge & insight in programming for:
    • HIL deployment (test scripting)
    • Improvement projects
  • knowledge of measuring equipment & software (like CANape, CANalyzer, Dewetron)
  • knowledge of electronics
  • knowledge of hydraulics/pneumatics
  • knowledge of mechanics
  • knowledge of statistics

 

An advantage is that the engineer has

  • experience in developing, performing & reporting tests
  • experience in development & performing tests on a HIL test system in particular

 

Qualifications Required/Preferred

  • Educational DegreeRequired (Minimum) - Bachelor in Electro-Mechanics/Mechatronics/Electronics
  • Relevant Work Experience of minimum 3 years preferred.
