osition Summary
The Supply Chain Professional, under minimal supervision, performs highly complex tasks relating to the management of an assigned category or categories within the company’s Category Management function. Uses skills and extensive knowledge of principles, theories, and concepts to manage assigned categories including identifying leveraged sourcing opportunities, analyzing market intelligence, contract management, supplier relationship and performance management.  Establishes effective working relationships and influence with stakeholders, staff, peer groups and leadership.


Essential Functions

  • Utilizing business acumen and industry specific knowledge, collaborate with other Supply Chain functions and stakeholders in developing and executing comprehensive category strategies
  • Gather, interpret and communicate market intelligence information to stakeholders
  • Manage demand planning, forecasting and expediting with stakeholders and suppliers
  • Lead cross functional teams in executing sourcing events and supplier performance reviews
  • Collect and monitor contract and supplier performance data through reports, internal customer surveys, and through ad hoc feedback from relevant stakeholders
  • Develop and monitor continuous business improvement process measures with suppliers to improve profitability
  • Develop and monitor strategies for maximizing supplier product line integration into the business to increase efficiency and value
  • Commit to and lead organizational change, anticipating potential resistance  
  • Identify, diagnose, and recommend solutions to complex business and technical problems
  • Identify and consider risks when making business recommendations
  • Act as business liaison between suppliers and Devon stakeholders
  • Support corporate budget and cash management process through periodic market pricing updates and forecasts
  • May act as mentor to less senior employees, providing direction, development, feedback and guidance
  • May supervise less senior employees in the absence of management
  • May serve as a technical expert with respect to category management matters



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or in other applicable field; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • Requires a minimum of 7 years of supply chain or other related experience;  industry experience preferred
  • Oil and Gas Industry Experience Preferred
