Cardno is seeking a Human Resources Manager for our Government Services Division based out of our Charlottesville, VA office.

The HR Manager will be responsible for divisional Human Resources and will work closely with the global HR team in implementing company-wide HR programs. The ideal candidate will have a background in HR Management within the federal government-contracting arena.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

>Provide day to day performance management guidance to supervisors (i.e., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions) for multi-location division and conduct regular meetings with respective business unit leaders
>Consult with supervisors and management providing HR guidance when appropriate; provide HR Policy interpretation
>Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations and administer follow up/coaching as needed
>Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance; Partner with internal and external legal counsel as needed/required
>In consultation with the Compensation and Benefits leader: manage merit, bonus, and equity award process for assigned groups
>Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and staff retention
>Assist management in developing terms of employment for new hires, promotions, and transfers
>Lead divisional recruiting efforts; maintain applicant data and ensure compliance with OFCCP regulations
>Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, succession planning
>Identify training needs for business units; Work with Learning and Development leader to ensure training is provided
>As member global Cardno HR Team, work on assigned projects that benefit all of Cardno
>With the assistance of Leave Administrator and regional Benefits team: manage ADA and FMLA cases; Short and Long-Term disability claims
>Directly oversee HR Generalist, providing day-to-day guidance and mentorship
>Develop and implementinternal mentoring program, working with staff and senior leadership

Other Requirements


>8-10 years of experience in the human resources, business services, and/or management
>5+ years of experience in HR management role with resolution of complex employee relation issues
>PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred
>Experience working with a federal government contractor; knowledge of EEO, OFCCP, and ADA regulations
>Ability to operate with a high degree of confidentiality
>Experience managing ADA and FMLA cases
>Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee diversity, performance management, federal and state respective employment laws
>Excellent client management and business literacy skills
>Strong conflict management skills; Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
>Excellent verbal and written communication skills
>Advanced Microsoft Excel skills-ability to manipulate, interpret, and report data
>Ability to develop strong trusting relationships in order to gain support and achieve results
>Be flexible and available to interact with employees at all levels
>Be self-directed and motivated
>Ability to travel if required, for in-person meetings or investigations at other Cardno office locations (less than 15%)

Preferred Qualifications:

>Experience with HR Information systems (preferably Workday, Deltek, and/or Ultipro)
>Experience with data analysis (interpreting employee turnover rates, affirmative action data, etc.)
>Experience managing and advising staff remotely
