JOB SUMMARY:

Leidos is seeking a Junior Software Engineer in Dayton, OH or Charlottesville, VA to help build and maintain our live streaming video applications for analysts. Our team works with a variety of languages (C++, Java, Javascript, Python) and technologies (Docker, Puppet, NiFi, etc). Gain experience while working on challenging problems to help us achieve our vision: sub-second latency for live video delivery and playback in both desktop and browser-based clients, with pluggable, horizontally scalable backend components supporting ingest, variable bit rates, and analyst workflows.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design, develop, and debug mission critical software source code.

- Participate in the full software development lifecycle.

- Research and integrate new technologies into our development and production systems.

- Work on the hardest open problems in live-streamed video.


Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum Education: BS in a technical field of study.

- 2 or more years of combined software engineeringexperience, including internships, course work, or hobby projects.

- 1 or more years of experience with a modern programming language.

- Demonstrable problem solving skills.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Knowledge of Agile Development methodologies and Test-Driven Development.

- Familiarity with basic web technologies including HTML, CSS, XML, SOAP, WSDL, REST, JSON, and JavaScript.

- Familiarity with at least one Relational Database Management System (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.).

- Familiarity with NoSql databases (Apache Accumulo, MongoDB, etc.).

- Experience with functional programming.
