The Vice President of Business Development and Global Sales we seek will be responsible
for awareness of “what is” and “what Tuthill wants” to support20% year-over-yearsales growth
and Top 1% financial performance. Rigorous use and model the core Tuthill processes of
Strategic Intent, Tactical Planning, Lean Product Development, Intentional Selling, and Customer
? Collaborate with President and Leadership Team to create and execute a defined
Strategic Plan to grow the business 20% annually and to achieve Top 1% financial
? Include in the strategy such items as key markets, growth trends, customer drivers,
product pareto’s, competitive analysis, environmental conditions, economic and
legislative changes, technologies, salesdistribution and channel strategy, capabilities
and opportunities, and threats that may affect the strategy.
? Identify areas of growth that include Price, Market Share growth, New Applications, New
Markets and New Products, and acquisitions. Also, initiate product rationalization as
? Identify and Develop clear saleschannels and channel partners to market that support
? Identify Value Minded Customers and related markets to support the required growth.
? Develop the related marketing initiatives (Product, Price, Promotion, Place, People) to
bring the strategy to life.
?Partner with the leadership team on the implementation of the company’s strategic and
operational plans. Also work closely with Operations and Engineering to create the midand
long-range related action plans.
? Create and develop a Top 1% team by timely utilization of the Tuthill Performance
Excellence and Hiring Processes that link directly to Policy Deployment.
? Develop and maintain balance between product diversification and excess complexity (in
product, process and organization), all the while meeting customer expectations as
defined in the Strategy.
? Fully embrace the Tuthill Business System (TBS) tools including: Voice of the Customer,
1st House of Quality, Marketing Bridge, Spider Diagrams, Opportunity Matrix, Funnel,
Commercial Lead Time, Sold Unit Mechanism and Policy Deployment. Also, the
processes of Strategic Intent, Tactical Planning, New Product Development, and Selling.
? Fully embrace Radical Leadership Tools including: Radical Leadership I & II, Coaching,
Designed Partnerships, Conscious Leader Definition, Promises, and Agreements.
? 10+ year’s strategic business development experience in global manufacturing.
? 10+ year’s in domestic and international sales, including senior sales management.
? 5+ years’ experience in product management and marketing in industrial manufacturing.
?International boots-on-the-ground exposure and experience, including familiarity with
different cultures and country legal requirements.
? Strong technical background.
? Strong leadership and people skills – comfortable and effective with all types of people.
? Extremely strong Commercial skills.
? Demonstrated appreciation of Brand beyond the product with a proven track record of
implementing related processes.
? Strong business acumen and a passion for business.
? Familiarity in lean manufacturing concepts preferred.
? Outstanding communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
? Computer and technology proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
?Bachelor’s Degreerequired, preferably in engineering or technical field.
? MBA strongly preferred.
? Work environment includes internally both office and manufacturing floor settings –
temperatures will vary – and externally with customers and channel partners.
? Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time.
? Primary work location in Springfield, Missouri. Strong preference for living within a 2 – 4
hour drive of Springfield and near a major airport.
?Travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.
