We are a search firm that has been hired by our client to identify a Fund Tax Manager to join their Investment Tax team.
You will support our investment products from a tax standpoint in the areas of financial products taxation, regulated investment company taxation, investment partnershiptaxation, international taxation and information reporting.
The position will manage the oversight of external service providers, develop and maintain documentation of tax positions and assist with the development and implementation of new products.
Responsibilities & Deliverables of Fund Tax Manager:
Manage the oversight of external service providers to ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness.
Perform technical tax analysis in the area of financial products, including financial derivatives such as futures, options and swaps.
Perform technical tax analysis in the highly specialized areas of regulated investment companies (Subchapter M) and investment partnerships.
Manage the tax requirements in foreign markets in which our funds invest and oversee tax documentation requirements for registration, foreign tax relief at source and foreign tax reclaims.
Manage the tax provision process, ASC 740 documentation and financial statement disclosures.
Evaluate and support new investment products through researching proposed investments, product structures and operational requirements.
Manage the calculation of fund distributions in accordance with the excise tax requirements.
Research security attributes and data though resources such as Bloomberg and service provider accounting systems
Support the information reporting process, including domestic, FATCA and common reporting standards.
Assist with domestic and foreign compliance, foreign country investortaxreporting and research needs for our funds.
Qualifications of Fund Tax Manager:
BA/BS in Accounting or related field
Masters in Tax or CPA license preferred
Fund accounting/fund administration knowledge a plus
4 years or more of experience in tax
Strong tax technical, analytical and problem solving skills
Strong computer skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and insure timely completion of projects
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to frame tax issues in easily understood terms by a diverse audience
Ability to work directly with internal and external professionals from a broad range of backgrounds and levels of responsibility
Candidate Must Have :
• 4 years or more of experience in tax
• Fund accounting/fund administration knowledge a plus
• Masters in Tax or CPA license preferred
