The Hospital Engineer is responsible for providing professional engineering expertise to Shands HealthCare for a wide range of projects or assesments. Responsibilites at all facilties include, development of SOC documents, engineering analysis of systems and equipment and management of selected projects. Project management activites include project scope definition, scheduling, budget preparation, consultant selection, design, document production, project estimating, construction on projects that involved new or existing facilties, renovations and infrastructure. The PM is responsible for overseeing the activities of architects, engineers, specialty consultants, contractors and sub-contractors, coordinating interface stakeholders, maintaining appropriate quality and design standards, and to manage small workforces of in-house construction staff as needed. The Hospital Engineer is expected to sucessfully manage a moderate to heavy workload of projects requiring technical and practical knowledge, utilizing insight and good judgement on projects of varying levels of difficulty and utilizing good interpersonal and management skills.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
B.S. degree in Engineering. Professional engineer registered in Florida. Minimum of five years experience in engineering system design, with experience in hospitals preferred. Extensive knowledge of codes and standards applicable to healthcare and business occupancies. Minimum two years experience dealing with regulatory agencies, especially Florida agencies.
