Overall Job Summary The Director – Analytics is responsible for providing strategic direction for the creation, development, execution, and leadership of all aspects of Matthews Analytics beginning with creation of an application vision and strategy that aligns with organizational goals and objectives. This role is accountable for the design, implementation and support of global enterprise Analytics business applications. This position will ensure 24/7 operations and deliverables for Analytics: Business intelligence, Business Objects, HANA and BPC and all other components required by the company in alignment with the global business strategy.
This role will be act as an advocate to the company to spread the value and help transform Matthews into a Data Driven enterprise. The Director will develop, maintain & leverage a global service delivery organization, institute ITIL best practices, and maintain a roadmap of Analytics system & process improvements to progressively deliver higher value from the Analytics assets.
This position will champion change throughout the IT organization as well as the corporation, providing visible improvements and tangible returns on investments.
Operates closely with IT & Line of Business leadership to drive companywide adoption of Analytics solutions.
Act as chief systems engineer for architecting, designing, building and operating Analytics business applications and solutions.
Set standards and controls for major analytics application systems regarding acquisition, development, and maintenance.
Design or re-engineer recognized “best practice” business systems that properly and efficiently utilize the existing portfolio of applications and IT resources and provide a common business practice for use throughout Matthews International.
Maintain and oversee the operations of enterprise applications by understanding upkeep/enhancement requirements, ensuring reliable secure operations and designing changes to the existing solution to minimize system performance issues
Drives statement of partnership projects, ensuring they meet customers' needs and are operationally sound. Partner with the PMO team, participate in project request assessments to maintain enterprise-wide applications alignment. Provides estimates (cost, duration) for enterprise application projects.
Develop an effective network of key “super” users to provide end-user support & activate for realizing continuous process improvement.
Orchestrate a network of functional & BU resources to maintain effective control over master data required to sustain effectiveness of Analytics processes.
Direct the efforts of a global services delivery to leverage long term growth throughout Matthews International.
Ensure that application changes are appropriately documented, tested and reviewed and occur in agreed change control windows with appropriate monitoring.
Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems.
Ensures the security of confidential and proprietary information and materials.
Participate in the Governance committee to establish IT standards, approve deviations and/or new requests. Coordinates with the architecture and SAP group to research new technology and leverage Matthews International standard of one ERP system.
Maintain knowledge of new and changing technologies, new hardware, new software, and systems techniques that provide the most competitive business tools to support the Matthews International’ business strategies by: attending seminars, vendor conferences, trade shows, and education sessions, use of the Internet, and on-site desktop educational courses. Analyze trends and introduce art-of-the-possible capabilities and industry relevant best practices to the business.
Build & maintain application improvement roadmaps for all enterprise Analytics applications.
Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results.
Prepare timely forecasts for the department. Accountable for its own budget.
Develop and manage client relationships at a senior management level, within the business unit to ensure client satisfaction and the development of efficient business systems.
Exchange knowledge and information with other Matthews International facilities to ensure best practices are shared throughout the organization.
Collaborate with BU & IT service delivery organizations to mobilize resources beyond immediate sphere of control to deliver project commitments.
Provide weekly communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the IT department.
Provide regular updates to Business Unit on the execution of the programs and projects.

Qualifications / Requirements
MBA is preferred; however minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Management or other business-related field.
Formal or continuing education around Big Data, Data Science and Analytics preferred
Strong Understanding of SAP BW, SAP Business Objects, SAP Business Objects Cloud, Big data and Advanced analytics
Minimum 7 years of leading and managing Analytics applications group focused on SAP ERP
10+ years in SAP BW and BI
5+ years of experience in SAP BOBJ (knowledge of the latest releases)
5+ years of project management experience in SAP BW/BI projects or 5 full cycle implementations under his/her belt
Excellent understanding of the integration points between the SAP ERP and BW
Substantial experience in configuring and supporting SAP BW and BOBJ
5+ years of experience in SAP BW data extractors and data feeds for external satellite non-SAP systems
Proficient knowledge of SAP BW components and BI systems landscape
5+ years of experience in translating the business requirement to technical requirements
Technical experience with SAP ECC6.0 EHP5, BW 7.5 SP05 on HANA, HANA, BPC 10.1
Prior experience in manufacturing or professional services industries is required
Demonstrated experience in managing personnel located internationally and of diverse cultural backgrounds that may or may not be direct reports.
Demonstrates strong and highly effective interpersonal skills and able to build and maintaining long-term relationships, coalitions, and networks.
Demonstrated experience managing external vendors for mutually beneficial relationships.
Extensive knowledge of IT governance, operations, security practices, and audit compliance.
Experience with general IT best practices and framework (ITIL,…)
