Job Description:

Overview:

  • The system engineer role on the Cat Detect team(s) involves system and software design activities as it pertains to the camera and radar based detection systems which provide increased operator awareness for construction and mining machines.
  • System engineeringresponsibilities include, but are not limited to
  • Gathering requirements from internal customers, process partners, and regulatory teams
  • Creating and managing detailed design documentation (system, hardware, software)
  • Develop the system architecture
  • Participate in use case development
  • Support system level activities with our perception & automation research team
  • Participate or support EMC system level tests
  • Travel to proving ground or customer sites for test support when needed
  • System engineeringresponsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Travel to proving ground or customer sites for test support when needed Software engineeringresponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Develop software requirements based on system level requirements
  • Support software activities with our internal process partners
  • Participate in test case development
  • Occasionally perform software verification on concept flash files
  • Coordinate feature development across the system
  • Validate that project deliverables are completed correctly
  • Troubleshoot identified software/system defects
  • Investigate source code implementation (C/C++) as needed o Travel to proving ground or customer sites for test support when needed Candidate will be eligible for the 9/80 work schedule.

Primary Skills:

  • Required 3+ years of experience creating and managing requirements & detailed design documentation experience with CAN/J1939 communication and CANalyzer (scriptingpreferred)
  • experience with perception technology (RADAR, LIDAR, Ethernet/LVDS cameras)
  • experience with Ethernet/image associated protocols (UDP, TCP, AVB, etc)
  • Ability to debug in C/C++ developer environments

Desired:

  • Automotive experience is a plus Familiarity with Agile development practices and methodologies
  • Experience with machine learning algorithms, Kalman filtering, image processing Familiarity with MPSOC FPGA platforms

Secondary Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication (ability to coordinate with global teams)

Educational Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
