Position Description:

PSS, Inc. is actively seeking a Cyber Security Engineer who will be responsible for performing, and reviewing technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability, non­compliance with established IA standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies. The incumbent will also validate and verify system security requirements definitions and analysis, and establish system security designs. He/she will design, develop, implement and integrate Information Assurance (IA), security systems, and system components, including those for networking, computing, and enclave environments, and including those with multiple enclaves and with differing data protection/classification requirements. He/she will also be expected to build IA into systems deployed to operational environments, as well as assist architects and systems developers in the identification and implementation of appropriate information security functionality to ensure uniform application security policy and enterprise solutions. The incumbent will support the building of securityarchitectures, enforce the design and implementation of trusted relations among external systems and architectures, and assess and mitigate system securitythreats/risks throughout the program life cycle. He/she will also be expected to contribute to the security planning, assessment, risk analysis, risk management, certification and awareness activities for system and networking operations, review certification and accreditation (C&A) documentation, and provide feedback on completeness and compliance of its content. He/she will also apply system securityengineering expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • System security design process
  • Engineering life cycle
  • Information domain
  • Cross domain solutions
  • COTS and GOTS cryptography
  • Identification
  • Authentication and authorization
  • System integration
  • Risk management
  • Intrusion detection
  • Contingency planning
  • Incident handling
  • Configuration control

  • Securityauditing, certification and accreditation processes
  • Principles of IA (confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation, availability, and access control)
  • Security testing

 

Clearance Requirements:

TS/SCI or TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance (Applicants selected will be subject to a government securityinvestigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Accordingly, US Citizenship is required.)

 

Position Requirements:

  • 8+ years’ cybersecurityexperience with a high school/GED diploma with, or an Associate of Arts degree with 6+ years’ cyberexperience, or 4+ years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 2+ years with a Master’s degree
  • Ability to follow established cybersecurity processes and checklists
  • Experience understanding and applying more advanced cybersecurity concepts and processes to daily activities
  • Experience developing new cybersecurity concepts and processes
  • Experience assisting more senior level technicians, specialists, and managers in their activities
  • Ability to work individually and actively participates on integrated teams and lead a task, project or team
  • Ability to function with guidance and direction from more senior level technicians, specialists, and/or managers only when dealing with new, uncertain situations
  • Ability to perform all tasks of lower level cybersecurity engineers or specialists
  • Experience providing guidance and support to junior level cybersecurity engineers and specialists in their activities
  • Experience analyzing root causes of problems, and resolving issues

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Cyber Security Engineerwill be responsible for:
