Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Advisory Ops Business Analyst II is a high level position within Advisory Operations that incorporates knowledge pertaining to all of the underlying functional areas within the department and operates under the guidance of Senior Business Analysts. The Business Analyst II will work with Advisory Operations, Advisory Compliance, Advisory Marketing and Product, Information Technology, Logistics, external vendors, and certain other applicable departments to bring about standardizations and efficiencies in data, workflow, systems, and processes. The Business Analyst II will interface with stakeholders to create requirement documents for projects and upgrades. The Business Analyst II will rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform his/her functions. The Business Analyst II will learn and understand Stifel’s advisory platform and coding parameters and use that broad knowledge to coordinate various aspects of assigned projects and move them forward.

MAJOR DUTIES

Analysis and Solution Definition

  • Analyzes advisory operational practices to identify current and future state business processes
  • Helps business stakeholders envision the future and how their work needs to change to support business growth

Technical Recommendations and Testing

  • Possesses moderate to advanced knowledge of technical design specifications
  • Experience writing SQL or otherdatabase queries
  • Ability to create project request forms and other detailed requirement documents
  • Ability to develop and implement testing scenarios for system enhancements
  • Proactively identify and document system deficiencies and recommend solutions
  • Proactive approach and use of seasoned judgment on priority of project completion

Problem Solving

  • Ability to think strategically to develop operational efficiencies that would move the department forward
  • Proactively focus on operational knowledge within Advisory Operations and other areas to understand interdependencies and work to identify and implement effective solutions
  • Identify reporting requirements and write IT project requests for creating the reports

Teamwork and Communication

  • Works with team members to prepare requirements, specifications, business processes, and recommendations
  • Ability to translate and communicate needed information at all levels (Associates, IT, Leadership, Sr. Leadership)
  • Effectively communicate system enhancements and procedure changes to leadership and associates

Required Skills

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS 

  • General understanding of rules/regulations and Stifel policies that pertain to Advisory Operations
  • Initiative and self-direction when performing tasks. Ability to organize and prioritize effectively in order to meet deadlines
  • Ability to handle large and varied work assignments and juggle them appropriately
  • Strong and demonstrated Microsoft Office skills, most notably Excel, Access, and SQL.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to professionally relay information and work withinternal and external “clients” as necessary.
  • Ability to form a strong team and lead that team to project completion
  • Solid and reliable analytical and problem-solving skills

Required Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
  • 4-5years of brokerage or financial services experience, with an emphasis on systems, technology, process improvement, and/or business development required

 DESIRED

  • Technical and/or Project Management certification
  • Fluent in concepts of technical design specification
  • Series 7, 66, and/or other applicable industry licensing
