Basic Function
Maintains overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of business unit strategy and is expected to provide financial analysis and implement recommendations based on these findings with the most profitable outcomes. Serves on business unit leadership team and supports other business unit functional leaders to help them plan and manage their own budgets. Directs and coordinates business accounting practices, the maintenance of fiscal records and the preparation of financial reports and appraises operating results in terms of COGS, budgets, policies, trends and profit opportunities.
Responsibilities

  • Work with business unit leadership team to grow the business by formulating appropriate financial strategies and plans.
  • Close involvement in analysis of new product development and business development base case financial models.
  • Review of financial results and investigation of budget variances then setting recovery plans.
  • Lead and develop business unit finance team.
  • Lead and manage the annual budgeting process and monthly financial projection process.
  • Consolidates, analyzes and tracks capital assets, maintenance and company operating budgets, checks appropriation requests for availability of funds and exercises accounting control to ensure that expenditures so not exceed amounts budgeted.
  • Prepares and interprets operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the progress to financial goals and objectives.
  • Will implement accounting guidelines and ensure all Company policies are adhered to within the business unit. Is responsible for the business unit complying with Sarbanes-Oxley and all other applicable financiallaws and regulations, company policies and corrective actions
  • Will directly participate in the accounting cycle and the preparation of financial documents/statements.
  • Sets overall departmental goals and priorities and evaluates subordinate’s performance based on those goals and priorities.
  • Coaches and develops personnel.

Physical Requirements

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, etc.
  • Generally involves sitting most of the time.
  • Must be able to review printed materials.
  • Ability to use common office equipment (e.g. calculator, PC, telephone, etc.).

Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to generate and explain detailed proposals, guidelines and procedures.
  • Must be able to analyze and resolve complex accounting/finance issues of a broad scope using independent judgment.
  • Must be able to routinely make decisions that affect immediate operations and may have a company-wide effect.
  • Must be able to observe and correct minute inconsistencies (e.g. in the printed word, an accounting report or system, etc.).
