As a global semiconductor company operating in 35 countries, Texas Instruments (TI) is first and foremost a reflection of its people. From the TIer who unveiled the first working integrated circuit in 1958 to the more than 30,000 TIers around the world today who design, manufacture and sell analog and embedded processing chips, we are problem-solvers collaborating to change the world through technology. Put your talent to work with us – change the world, love your job!

About the Program:
This is your chance to innovate a better world. In our challenging and collaborative Applications Engineer Rotation Program, you’ll get to use your technical and creative engineering skills while gaining valuable experience working with real customers and real products on real business problems.

Applications Engineers at Texas Instruments (TI) are a highly-motivated, synergistic group with great team spirit and a strong commitment to the customer. In this role, you will promote TI products and provide technical solutions to customers that will ultimately go into consumer products like smartphones, PC peripherals, personal medical devices, electric cars, e-bikes and much more. You’ll also provide technical support and engage with customers to help define new products and opportunities for future product development.

As a program participant, you’ll work on breakthrough technologies through two six-month assignments which could be within a variety of field (customer) or business unit (product line) organizations.

Program participants begin with a one day orientation in Dallas, TX. As soon as orientation ends, you will jump into your first of two rotations.

Rotations in the field are centered on learning how to work directly with customers to solve their problems and position TI to gain share. You will learn customer systems and leverage TI product expertise to help solve complex technical problems or develop competitive, high-performance working proposals for customers.

The business unit rotation puts you on an applications team in one of TI’s product lines. During this assignment, you will gain a deep understanding of specific products within the business unit – how to position them, typical problems/barriers, how to test/debug and how to solve customer problems at a system level. Both rotations are hands-on, technical problem-solving focused with the goal of helping you to create compelling solutions and win business for TI.

At the end of your program, you’ll become a member of one of our Field or Business Unit (U.S. participants only) applications teams.

As a Field Applications Engineer, you will be assigned an account base and have direct technical responsibility for growing revenue. This includes solving customer system level problems utilizing TI devices. This could entail providing TI designs, schematic and PCB layout reviews, and board bring up directly onsite in your customers lab. As a member of the field apps team, our goal is to find and position all TI sockets on every possible customer project to gain share.

As a Applications Engineer in one of our Business Units, you will have direct responsibility for going technically deep in understanding the different product group technologies and creating TI designs to help solve customer needs around the world. You will gain firsthand experience into the silicon development cycle within the business unit as well as have the chance to travel to other TI sites and customers to stay on top of industry technical trends and needs to further enhance next generation devices.

And it doesn’t stop there. You’ll be mentored along the way by the best and the brightest engineering minds and take part in customized learning opportunities. You’ll also have the chance to travel to TI sites and customer facilities within your region of the world and gain meaningful experience working directly with global team members and customers.
