Dow Chemical recently announced the creation of a new Digital Operations Center. The Digital Operations Center will be a critical component in enabling Dow's Digital Strategy and in accelerating the Manufacturing 4.0 Program. The center will be located in the recently opened Deer Park Dow Center and will include a blend of resources from Operations, Manufacturing & Engineering, I/S, and Diamond Systems Solutions and will collaborate closely with other key functions. The Digital Operations Center will initially house personnel with expertise in production, maintenance, process control and automation, process development, robotics, manufacturing execution systems, enterprise architecture, mobile technologies, analytics and other areas. This multidisciplinary team will facilitate rapid prototyping of new capabilities to enhance the competitive position of Dow's manufacturing and site facilities. In alignment with the Digital Marketplace Center in Chicago, these two facilities provide digital capability and visibility from market to manufacturing.  The center will be opening in late August 2017 and we are looking for great and enthusiastic talent to help grow the center and make giant steps into Dow’s digital era.

 

 

This new Digital Operations Center has created an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Mobile Application Architect Specialist.  The role will provide leadership and technical expertise, and manage current and emerging mobile application technology as an integrated component of the strategic and project journey that supports the digitalization of the Dow Company for the future. The role will also be responsible for managing and leading the workflow design and development device life-cycle management, procurement, and R&D initiatives to evaluate emerging technologies.

 

This position will be located in Deer Park, TX. Domestic relocation assistance provided. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Promote new and/or existing mobile APP/application technology throughout the solution lifecycle (design, development, testing, and production), and leverage Dow standard support services as appropriate.

  • Coordinate APP/application technology development needs/requirements that support mobile technology solutions.

  • Collaborate with APP/application technology development teams to implement systems that support the business goals.

  • Define testing requirements against deternmined technical & functional requirements

  • Document operational support procedures

  • Ensure APP/application technology aligns to company IT architecture and security standards

  • Participate in M&E Mobility Expertise Center deliverables that ensure APP/application technology projects are designing sustainable and “solution fit for use” solutions. (i.e. IoT, etc.)

  • Supporting investigations and forensic activities involving APP/application technology use.

  • Ensure alignment with Workspace Services Team, M&E Mobility Expertise Center, Mobility Competency Center as well as other key stakeholder organizations

  • Identify adaptive and preventive maintenance needs and escalate to the Architect Specialist/Lead Architect.

  • Provide technical and process expertise to the team on issue identification, escalation, problem diagnostics and correction.

  • Pursue emerging/new technology “solution fit for use”  in a way that revolutionizes Dow’s long-term strategy and future.

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of related experience with APP/application technology with emphasis in R&D, requirement development, “solution fit for use”, procurement, selection, and incident management.

  • Experience with mobile web-based solutions.

  • APP/application technology life-cycle Management and Operations experience; i.e. “Run the Business”, triage, issue mitigation, etc.

  • Broad knowledge of current M&E related APP/applications used to optimize operations, maintenance, and logistics/supply chain, etc, work processes.

  • Demonstrated “solution fit for use” usability attitude.

  • Experience with Incident Response and Root Cause methodologies including unplanned event mitigation, forensics, and asset reliability principles

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or Engineering Discipline.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
