Reliability Engineer

The Challenge:

The Reliability Engineer provides maintenance support and project management services to produce high quality Dyneema® fiber and Dyneema UD® in a safe, cost effective manner while maintaining excellent safety, human relations, and environmental standards.

The Position – Key duties and responsibilities:

Roles and responsibilities are defined and assigned to those involved in the different Manufacturing Excellence Work Processes.
  1. Monitor and analyze repetitive maintenance problems.  Determine the root cause for equipment failures and initiate equipment or procedural changes to correct the problem.
  1. Translate BG / Plant Management objectives into a Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Plan (PPM), in cooperation with maintenance management. Continuously develop and optimize the PPM, achieving maximum availability of the plant against the lowest costs.
  1. Propose and initiate solutions to eliminate actual and potential performance killers and cost drivers and discuss with stakeholders (maintenance, production, business, etc.).  Ensure handover to appropriate work process.
  1. Lead RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and FMECA (Failure Mode & Effect Criticality Analysis).
  1. Interact with Maintenance and Technicians on a regular basis to ensure effective communication of production and compliance related changes in procedures. Conduct formalized training for operative/craft personnel as necessary.
  1. Responsible for life cycle of electrical and instrumentation components, review specifications of equipment and spare parts and recommend replacement for obsolete parts, following change control.
  1. Develop plans to reduce COGS by continuously improving efficiencies, processing times, reducing labor and material costs, reducing maintenance costs and controlling expense budgets.
  1. Maintain compliance with environmental programs.  Promote waste reduction and recovery projects and incorporate associated operations in applicable manufacturing processes.   Identify opportunities to minimize waste and to recycle.
  1. Comply with all job-related safety and other training requirements.
  1. Must be willing to respond to all types of emergencies and spend overtime hours in monitoring scheduled work when required.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

Authorities

  • Supervise contractors. 

The Ideal:

  1. Experience with industrial equipment such as centrifugal and gear pumps, multiple style gear boxed, mixers, vessels, piping systems, valving, motors and drives, furnaces, heat exchangers.
  2. BS/BA in a technical field with 5+ years of industry experience
  3. Experience with good maintenance practices for equipment installation, preventative maintenance and equipment troubleshooting.
  4. Experience with predictive maintenance; Vibration analysis, Thermography, Oil analysis, Ultrasonic Leak Detection, Motor Circuit Analysis.
  5. Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  6. Diversified knowledge of multiple engineering specialties - including mechanical, chemical, electrical and civil.
  7. Experience managing projects in excess of $200k -  meet deadlines/budgets and drive projects to closure.
  8. Must be willing to respond to all types of emergencies and spend overtime hours in monitoring scheduled work when required.
  9. Knowledge of Microsoft Office® applications to include Microsoft Excel®; Microsoft Outlook®; and Microsoft Access®.
  10. Experience using SAP PM
  11. Experience in maintenance support and/or reliability engineering.
  12. Experience in textiles is highly preferred.
