Job Description

 The incumbent will oversee Bedford, Miramichi, and St. John's operations, including direct accountability for manufacturing, quality, health and safety, and employee relations. More specifically, the Manufacturing Director will:

  • Provide direction for the day to day activities of the plant operations;
  • Prepares and monitors operational and capital budgets;
  • Ensures the strategic priorities for Agropur Canada and the Fresh Cluster are actionable at the site level;
  • Achieves key quality, health and safety, efficiency, customer satisfaction standards, employee mobilization and environmental standards;
  • Develops and fosters plans for the efficient use of materials, machines and employees;
  • Directs, development and implement key projects at the locations including new product and/or equipment;
  • Responsible for reinforcing and promoting an on-going "change culture" and managing relationships in a progressive employee relations environment;
  • Responsible for communication and education of Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to management teams;
  • Directs training and development of salaried and hourly personnel to enhance plant performance;
  • Liaise with Government and regulatory agencies;
  • Look after the security and safety at the plants premises;
  • Serves as a key member of the Agropur Canada Fresh Products Cluster team.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Food Science (dairy) or Engineering;
  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years' experience in operations and/or plant management in the dairy/food industry;
  • Demonstrated leadership and planning skills;
  • Proven track record in improving cost base and plant performance;
  • Aptitude/experience in financial measurement of plant performance;
  • Proven track record and capability to handle multiple priorities;
  • Strong labour management skills in a unionized environment;
  • Knowledge of systematic problem solving processes (Six Sigma, Lean, PDCA, 7 Step, Kepner Tregoe, etc.), an asset;
  • Must be available to travel frequently in the region and occasionally through various sites of the organizations.
