HYG is looking for an energetic Mechanical or Electrical Engineer who will have a positive influence onthe Warehouse Product Development team.  As a Product Design Engineer, you will work on the design of components, assemblies or vehicle systems, provide product design documentation through the creation of detail drawings, engineering lists and Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and integrate manufacturing input into the design of components, assemblies, or vehicle systems, and may participate in the support of manufacturing activities such as Pilot or 1st Production. As a Product Design Engineer you will provide basic input to the concept phase of projects and provide technical direction to Drafters, Designers and Engineers. In this role you will also create product design documentation – such as CAE (computer aided engineering), 3-d models, detail drawings, engineering lists, reports, test plans and software coding – tosupport release of Change Orders describing component design revisions. You will translate truck-level and system-level requirements to component requirements and plan and support development testing to ensure design robustness to requirements. The Product Design Engineer Will Have the Following Key Accountabilities:
 
 
 

  • Design and develop components as required for lift truck vehicles
  • Design and develop assemblies as required for lift truck vehicles and order prototype parts
  • Evaluate component design and assembly, build prototype vehicles, design and evaluate systems and plan and execute prototype test activities
  • Provide design specification documentation as required to manufacture the product such as detail drawings, engineering list structure and ECN writing
  • Provide design and evaluation documentation as required to market, manufacture and service the productmanufacture and service the product
  • Provide product/process specification documents, detailed drawings/software development, test engineering reports, sales and product information data and test plans
  • Develop product around the most efficient and cost effective manufacturing processes, and provide on-site Engineering support during critical Manufacturing activities such as Pilot and 1st Production; integrate Manufacturing/Purchasing input basic design
  • Provide design and evaluation documentation as required to market, manufacture and service the product
  • Provide adequate supervision to insure project activities are completed in an accurate timely manner, and provide training for other project team members
  • Project concepts which meet the requirements of HYG’s Product Line Strategy Groups and satisfies the customers’ needs, such as design input to project proposals, conduct competitive truck reviews and participate in marketing/field input activities
  • Provide design/test input to project proposals, research for future product projects and develop design and evaluation concepts which enable program and project decisions
  • Devise plans for component strategy creation that take advantage of unapparent opportunities given technology advances aligned with corporate vision

 
 
The Successful Product Design Engineer Will Meet the Following Minimum Qualifications:

 
For the Engineer I: 
 
 

  • B.S. in Mechanical or ElectricalEngineering or proven ability if learned by other means
  • Basic knowledge/skill in CAD
  • Basic knowledge/skill in design layouts
  • Specialized knowledge/skill in engineering analysis
     


For the Engineer II: 
 
 

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or proven ability, if learned by other means
  • Minimum 1 year industry experience at HYG or equivalent
  • Specialized knowledge/skill in drafting practices, CAD, engineering analysis and design layouts
  • Basic knowledge/skill in vehicle/automotive technology
  • Basic knowledge/skill in design, industry regulations and manufacturing technology


For the Engineer III:
 

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or proven ability, if learned by other means
  • Minimum 3 years industry experience
  • Specialized knowledge/skill in drafting practices, CAD, engineering analysis, design layouts, vehicle/automotive technology
  • Specialized knowledge/skill in design, manufacturing technology
  • Basic knowledge/skill in industry regulations

 
For the Engineer IV:

  • B.Sdegree in Engineering, Master’s degree is preferred
  • Minimum five years industry experience
  • Master level knowledge / skill in drawing practices, CAD,  design layouts, engineering analysis
  • Basic specialized knowledge/skill in vehicle/automotive technology, manufacturing technology, design/test experience, test practices and procedures
  • Basic specialized knowledge/skill in industry regulations
  • Basic knowledge in scheduling and supervision
