Job Summary – The Manager of Member Education & Communications is responsible for successfully collaborating with subject matter experts to develop and deliver quality content through continuing education programs and member publications to an array of disciplines within the HealthTrust membership—from physicians, nurses and pharmacists to supply chain leaders/managers, healthcare executives and other allied health professionals.

The manager must be an excellent written and verbal communicator, comfortable researching and suggesting topics, compiling information or interviewing resources to write assigned articles for THE SOURCE magazine, member newsletters, the continuing education website and related promotional vehicles. The role will collaborate effectively with internal and external subject matter experts, physician advisors, advisory board members, service line leadership, contracted suppliers, academic and industry speakers, and continuing education accreditation resources to develop and deliver member education and physician advisor programs.

  Content Development for Continuing Member Education & Publications

  • Compile member feedback from continuing education-based program evaluations and other member surveys to quarterly refresh list of topics members are interested in for potential education and/or article development
  • Research topics online and collaborate with director and internal experts to identify additional content and resources to address via an educationevent or through a HealthTrust publication
  • Schedule and conduct meetings requested by advisory board leads or contracting teams to discuss opportunities for suppliers or otherhealthcare-related organizations to provide potential education to HealthTrust members and/or related content for THE SOURCE magazine
  • Manage topic suggestions through the internal review process with director/executive editor; clinical, pharmacy, supply chain or contracting experts; and/or leadership, as appropriate
  • Keep records of continuing educationevent speakers to suggest repurposing as resources to interview on related topics for THE SOURCE magazine or contact magazine resources to develop content for a member educationevent
  • Research and suggest potential content partnerships to enhance on-demand program offerings


Member Education (Webinars, summits, live events and annual HealthTrust University Conference)

  • Manage Call for Presentations process to obtain online proposals for consideration to present at the annual HealthTrust University Conference
    • Promote process to members, suppliers, board leads, account management and otherinternal teams to increase number of proposals submitted
    • Manage internal review process to score submissions online and schedule in-person meeting with internal experts to select final program slate
  • Manage speaker communications, requirements and details for all member educationevents working to meet event timelines:
    • Notification of acceptance/rejection/changes needed for re-review
    • Manage series of speaker communications to inform of key deadlines, reimbursement policies, travel and event registration info, and/or obtain required signed disclosures, audio/visual needs, photos, etc.
    • Obtain and edit content needed to complete CE/CME applications and program promotional vehicles (i.e., biographies, program summaries, learning objectives, gap analysis, etc).
    • Provide guidance on correct use of branded template and continuing education/CME accrediting body requirements
      • Edit submissions and final content to fit continuing education/CME guidelines, appropriate format and for AP Style
      • Manage appropriate internal review processes and communicate necessary edits
      • Schedule dry run with speaker(s) and webinar provider prior to each live webinar
  • Collaborate with continuing education agencies (CE) and continuing medical education (CME) physician providers to:
    • Obtain working knowledge of requirements and ability to translate that to internal/external resources developing content
    • Write, edit, submit completed applications and revise, as requested
    • Guide presenters on content edits needed to get programs approved for CE/CME credit (includes webinars scheduled year-round, physician services clinical summits, physician meetings, and 50+ CE programs presented annually at the HealthTrust University Conference to a variety of clinical and non-clinical disciplines
  • Execute* logistics for eventbefore, during and post-event. Includes, setting up webinar registration, tracking registration numbers, scheduling dry run with webinar provider and speaker(s), providing day-of necessary log-ins, etc., completing script to open each program, completing opening and closing slides containing process for obtaining CE credits, work with third-party provider (i.e., Cadmium, Pfiedler, Belmont) to create event evaluation site and print CE certificate. Post eventresponsibilities include reporting on attendance and CE/CME stats and sharing evaluation results with speakers. (* co-sponsor may handle some of these tasks; manager will provide follow up to ensure completion)
  • Repurpose live content to develop on-demand learning modules and research supplier education sites and obtain necessary approvals to link out to those sites from HealthTrust’s education website
  • Supportothereducational events delivered by the Physician Services team, as requested (applying for continuing education credits with appropriate accreditation bodies, editing CE event syllabus for distribution, promotion, post-eventreporting, on-site help, etc.)
  • Research and suggest potential new accreditation agencies to provide CE/CME approvals, as directed
  • Manage speakers and onsite staff volunteers during annual HealthTrust University Conference.
    • Interface effectively with Marketing Events team and onsite AV and tech providers to communicate needs, resolve technical issues, test live polling, etc.
    • Proof HTU mobile app to ensure all education session and speaker information and continuing education details are correct; communicate necessary edits

  Technology & Metrics

  • Manage day-to-day operations and content and become super user for all HealthTrust learning management systems (LMSs) including a call for presentations site, a proposal review and scoring site, a speaker management site, a CE evaluation and certificate administration site, etc.
    • Lead quality assurance testing prior to site launches related to specific events and communicate with outside providers to make needed enhancements
    • Write, obtain, upload and/or maintain necessary contents (assessments, evaluations, course materials)
    • Create registration for webinars and/or secures outside provider depending on capabilities of content provider
  • Manage the tracking of and reporting for all CE events; obtain system-based data and reports as required by or from CE agencies
  • Maintain network of resources to stay informed of new technology and updates related to cutting-edge software, systems and new approaches to developing and delivering best-practice learning for HealthTrust members
  • Assess capabilities and evaluate scope of existing systems to recommend and/or vet additional or replacement vendor solutions to enhance LMS delivery systems or changing needs, as directed
  • Learn from third-party supplier and then teach HTU speakers functionality of the session live polling application two weeks prior to onsite event; test onsite with each presenter before start of session
  • Manage resource from Marketing or IT to ensure seamless execution of presentations scheduled for hands-on member tech lab at HTU


  • Utilize AP Style to write and/or edit articles for THE SOURCE magazine, other member publications or online properties, as assigned by director/executive editor
  • Repurpose magazine content for thought leadership section of HealthTrust’s public website
  • Write articles, create program flyers and related deliverables to promote member education opportunities and the annual Call for Presentations process through HealthTrust member publications and online properties, as well as promotion through advisory board leads, account management and other team members
  • Initiate monthly development of Education Update newsletter (in Hubspot)
    • Write stories and add copy to designed template
    • Manage approval, distribution and mail list maintenance processes
    • Respond to member questions submitted through links in newsletter and/or the education email box


  • Assist with THE SOURCE magazine day-to-day operations as requested by executive editor. May include mailing list maintenance, creating print order for distribution, referring advertising requests to outside rep, responding to member and supplier questions, reviewing ad content, speaking to suppliers about advertising opportunities, presenting to advisory boards about content needs, operational follow up with publisher, etc.

Knowledge of the following …

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Learning management systems (LMS) with ability to learn HealthTrust systems including, Cadmium LMS sites, editing in WordPress, template creation and list management via HubSpot; software to create online learning modules (Brainshark, Captivate, etc.); survey tools (Survey Monkey, Survey Gizmo, etc.)
  • Advanced working knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Office Products, specifically: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook; webinar delivery tools; Learning Management Systems



  • Critical thinking, with sound judgement to effectively trouble-shoot issues, offer solutions for consideration and remain calm under pressure (when technology fails, a speaker cancels, etc.)
  • Self-motivated to develop and follow project timelines 
  • Understanding of AP Style for content editing and writing; expert copy proofreading skills
  • Effective at obtaining, analyzing, reporting on and consistently tracking related programs results
  • Resourceful in learning the organization and its internal subject matter experts as well as appropriate stakeholders for content development and approval
  • Adapting content for repurposing across multiple HealthTrust vehicles, as warranted

  • Execute on PowerPoint and related templates within HealthTrust brand and graphic standards as well as effectively convey those standards to content partners and speakers
  • Grasp and obtain expert knowledge of HealthTrust LMS systems and software
  • Provide detailed quality assurance testing of LMS systems, HTU mobile app, etc., as well as accurate proofreading of content within such applications
  • Respond to member, speaker and stakeholder requests or questions in a timely manner
  • Compile and report on member feedback and CE tracking results on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Assist director with annual budget preparation by reviewing quarterly and annual reports to provide numbers of attendees and year-to-dateeducation expenses, etc.
  • Bachelor’s degreerequired
  • 5-7years relevant experience working in an education, training and/or communications capacity (clinical or non-clinical) with responsibilities that supportworking withinternal and external subject matter experts and outsourced partners
  • Demonstrated business writing and speaking proficiency required
  • Magazine or publications background is a plus (samples appreciated)
  • Proven conference/live event, continuing education administration and/or project management responsibilities is required; having done so for a membership organization is a plus


  • Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD) or Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) certification from ATD (Association for Talent Development), a plus
