Job Description

  • Supervise effective and timely monthly U.S. GAAP financial close and internal reporting, including the consolidation, preparation and analysis of financial statements for assigned regions
  • Develop and enhance greater interaction with accounting operations in assigned regions
  • Execute and/or manage specific areas of accounting as assigned (e.g. Capital reporting, Grant compliance, Audit support)
  • Interface with Cash Management as relates to general ledger activities
  • Support the Company’s external reporting processes, including the annual audit and quarterly reviews of the consolidated financial statements and other requests for services performed by the Company's external auditors
  • Continually assess effectiveness and efficiency of accounting operations, identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement as well as establishing and evaluating appropriate observable metrics
  • Support the Company’s mergers and acquisitions activities, including participating in due diligence activities and ensuring effective integration of accounting processes
  • Support internal audit activities within sphere of influence
  • Supervise and train assigned staff
  • Special projects, as required
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Required Experience

Qualifications

  • BS Accounting and minimum of 7 - 10 years related experience; CPA, MBA and U.S. public company experience preferred
  • Transportation industry, particularly railroad, experience a plus
  • Position requires good communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels
