Grateful Ventures, a Gannett Co. Inc. company and part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, is seeking a Business Development/Inside Sales Manager.  This position will be act as a strategic consultant to the sales team providing support with sales optimization, budgeting and planning analyses, market insights and sales team education. 




  • Evaluate and support high-impact strategic projects across ad sales.

  • Perform detailed account, category, regional, site and deal specific performance analyses and track and monitor vertical-specific KPIs in order to identify areas of opportunity for innovation.

  • Conduct competitive market analysis for the Food vertical (and future verticals), synthesize, distill and socialize key trends that influence areas of growth and risk for the organization.

  • Work cross-functionally to coordinate and manage annual budget and long-range planning activities for the individual brands; lead effort on demand-side analysis and model building.

  • Use and maintain an in-depth understanding of key ad sales and planning systems and tools.

  • Act as sales champion and be a brand ambassador to ad sales team to ensure alignment on priorities, value proposition and sales strategy.

  • Spearhead efforts to evaluate new ad products and suppliers; perform analysis, build financial and business models, manage pilot tests with partners and brands, evaluate performance and make recommendations to management.

  • Develop and execute strategy for “productization” of new corporate deals.

  • Lead education and training on new initiatives to the sales teams.

  • Provide regular updates to the Sales management team on health of vertical and areas for growth; ensure alignment across all levels.

  • Work intimately with cross functional areas of business (Marketing/Sales/Operations) to ensure seamless execution of initiatives and smooth operation of Grateful processes.

  • Work across verticals to identify and share best-in-class practices and products to leverage across the portfolio.






  • Bachelor’s degree

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in marketing, strategy, media, sales or a combination of the above.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Outstanding interpersonal & networking skills

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills

  • Excellent organizational stills

  • Self-starter who can perform independently and proactively while working in a team environment

  • Flexible, able to work in a fast paced, results oriented environment.

  • Solutions oriented

  • Understanding of Ad technology is a plus.
