The Quality Assurance organization has an opportunity for an individual to join the Program Quality management team as the Operational Commercial Engines (CE) Quality Chief. The successful candidate will lead activities to ensure internal organizations and external suppliers achieve high levels of quality performance related to production and aftermarket services.

The Operational CE Quality Chief will lead the Program Quality teams for the V2500, PW4000, PW6000, PW2000 and JT8D. These teams serve as the customers’ quality focal point. As a member of the V2500 and OCE IPMTs, the Quality Chief will partner with the Program Office, CE Aftermarket, Engineering and Operations to ensure quality plans support program execution.

The position is located in East Hartford and includes 20% travel. The Operational CE Quality Chief reports to the Executive Director, Program Quality, Commercial Engines.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Integral member of the V2500 and OCE IPMTs
  • Supervision of the V2500 and OCE Program Quality Teams
  • Ensure regulatory, customer and program related quality requirements are satisfied
  • Drive quality signature improvement across the V2500 and PW4000 programs by working with Engineering, GSE, Aftermarket Operations, Engine Services and CTS
  • Support process and product oversight of non-conformance activity to identify and remedy adverse trending and emerging product issues
  • Ensure the following processes are robust and fully executed:
    • Customer Market Feedback Analysis (MFA)
    • Customer scorecard sustainment
    • Internal PW quality scorecard
    • Compliance with Program Management Instruction (PMI)
    • ACE tool use (QCPC, Std. Work, MFA, etc.) to support internal and external continuous improvement goals
  • Provide leadership in the escapes management process to ensure proper allocation of resources, identification of root cause drivers, definition of suspect population, implementation of corrective actions and proper communication with external customer
  • Provide program office support for transactional quality issues associated with in-service customers; serve as the link from the IPMT to the Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) quality representatives, provide product escape resolution guidance and development hardware support
  • Ensure implementation of customer and supplier/partner quality plans which foster the achievement of program office delivery, cost, and quality objectives
  • Review and propose changes to P&W’s quality management system to support changes required with new business agreements and/or new program requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s Degreerequired, Master’s Degreepreferred.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • 10 years related work experience, including project management and supervisory roles
  • Sound business judgment, strong organization, leadership, team building, interpersonal, communications, writing and presentation skills are required for success. A working understanding of quality system requirements, knowledge of AS9100 requirements, and a thorough knowledge of the ACE operating system or similar continuous improvement methodology are essential. A demonstrated performance of past productivity and a high degree of computer literacy is also required. A broad knowledge of the quality, engineering, procurement, & manufacturing disciplines is necessary. This person must have the capability and personal skills to interface seamlessly with all levels of P&W Management within quality, in other (external) organizations, and major business units (PW and UTC wide).
