The following accountabilities are to be carried out in a manner consistent with the spirit and philosophy outlined in The Andersons' Statement of Principles:
1.) Aggressively seek and cultivate new accounts in established territory or market segment with appropriate focus on long-term growth and stability.
2.) Increase sales to new and established accounts by introducing and demonstrating new products or service, assisting prospects in the best selection for their needs. Manage accounts by applying customer relationship skills and developing strong and ongoing customer/supplier alliances.
3.) Ensure that customers are properly informed of programs, prices and trends and will continually improve selling skills and maintain an awareness of industry and regional trends Ensure that customers are properly informed of programs, prices and trends and follow-up after the sale to ensure quality and on-time delivery goals are met for complete customer satisfaction. Subject to approval, negotiate prices, terms of sale, delivery and related information.
4.) Investigate customer issues in accordance with Company policies. Coordinate the use of technical resources within or outside the company for best resolution of customer needs. This may include taking soil and water samples or any other testing needed. Document and report in writing any customer requests that must be reviewed and carried-out by other areas.
5.) Responsible for credit exposure, collection, and control within the assigned territory or market segment. Evaluate financialreports and overall performance of customers and make recommendations for the establishment of proper credit limits in compliance with established credit policies and procedures, and recommend improvements. Periodically report on the credit and receivable situation to ensure collection on delinquent accounts.
6.) Coordinate and schedule field trials. Provide sampling services to existing and new customers to best determine the needs of their crop. The incumbent must make sound agronomic recommendations of nutrients and/or chemicals that will best address customer’s needs using programming tools when necessary or requested by a customer, which track and document the suggested application of products.
7.) Make recommendations to management for new products and improved methods or changes necessary to achieve company sales objectives. Participate in the development of marketing literature to document and promote newly developed or enhanced product offerings.
8.) Actively participate and represent the Plant Nutrient Group in industry and trade association meetings, events, etc., to maintain a professional presence and to provide access to markets and industry networks.
9.) Prepare budgets and sales forecast to assist in the planning and management of production and delivery services to meet future demands.
10.) Seek out continuous improvement opportunities and provide input and recommendations. When appropriate, lead continuous improvement efforts.
11.) Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s level degreerequired.
- Three (3) or more years of progressive experience in the fertilizer or related industry including sales and service responsibilities.
- Skilled in the agronomic use and application of the various products offered and capable of making accurate recommendations in the handling, storage, and use of these products.
- Operational experience in a related industry is highly desired.
