Key Accountabilities:

Strategic Development:

  • Work with the Vice President, Business Development and Strategy, to develop and implement the Mining Business Development strategy and tactics for Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV), with a relentless focus on extending global market share

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the overall TMX Group Listings Strategy


Business Development:

  • Identify opportunities and prospect for mining companies, in local and international markets, to list on TSX and TSXV

  • Develop and maintain extensive relationships with the local and international market influencers (investment banks, securities lawyers, accountants, advisors, investors, associations, key government officials etc.) within the mining sector with the view of prospecting for companies

  • Build relationships and programs with the international institutional investment community to attract new capital and investment into mining issuers on TSX and TSXV

  • Develop and manage the business development budget for Mining

  • Understand, track and develop responses to the competitive markets for mining listings

Operational Initiatives:

  • Understand the mining listing requirements / considerations, as well as understand and be able to articulate the value proposition for TSX/TSXV relative to other global exchanges

  • Identify, evaluate, plan and execute on TSX/ TSXV participation at sponsorships, conferences, hosted and collaborative events

  • Develop and deliver external presentations, speeches and content supporting marketing materials for the mining sector

  • Act as a positive ambassador of TMX Group internally and externally

Must Have Skills

  • Post-secondary education in Finance or Business; MBA, CA, LLB or CFA preferred

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within a banking, or sales role within the capital markets and preferably with a background in the mining sector and experience with securities law

  • Strong strategic acumen and track record for developing and executing upon global growth initiatives

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with C-level executives and investment professionals

  • Knowledge and understanding of Canadian capital markets and mining sector

  • Ability to plan and execute with minimal supervision

  • Collaborative team player who can work effectively with the business development team from a physically remote location as well as other teams across the organization

  • Must be able to travel (40-50%)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong presentation development and delivery skills
