Lockwood Hills, LLC provides mission support services to federal agencies and the military. With expert capabilities across four service areas, Lockwood Hills, LLC facilitates some of the most demanding and critical missions in the world. Our work includes safeguarding vital installations and personnel, maintaining and modifying aircrafts, keeping operations on track with integrated logistics, and driving business with records management and administrative support services.

The Learning Scientist will support the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative contract vis-à-vis Lockwood Hills, LLC. The ADL Initiative was founded in 1999 and conducts research, development, testing and evaluation to enhance distributed learning across the US federal government. The ADL Initiative engages in thought leadership to help craft the vision of future learning science and technology, innovate research and development (R&D) to mature emerging concepts, coordinate related efforts with stakeholders across government, industry and academia, and facilitate transition.

As the Learning Scientist, you will be entrusted to perform the following duties:

  • Execute work related to pedagogical model of the future.

  • Execute work related to Total Learning Architecture.

  • Author and/or edit scholarly publications (e.g., journal articles), informational publications (e.g., news articles), technical documentation (e.g., software manuals) on learning science.

  • In conjunction with the R&D team, ensure that technical narratives are communicated effectively (especially to non-technical users).

  • Perform other duties not outlined above, at the discretion of the ADL Initiative leadership.


Required Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm, flexibility and willingness to work in a high-paced, fun environment.

  • Excellent command of English (oral and written communication).

  • Thorough grasp of work related to pedagogical model of the future.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of progressively responsible learning science experience; an equivalent combination of education (e.g., cognitive science, psychology) and experience will be considered.

  • Acute attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of Total Learning Architecture (TLA).

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.

  • Advanced-level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).

  • Positive, well-mannered and dedicated team player who requires minimal supervision to complete tasks.

  • Thirst for knowledge and always willing to learn and assist colleagues.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Government and industry working groups and communities of practice.

  • Familiarity with distributed learning technologies (e.g., xAPI).
