Cellulosic fibers are currently a key source of earnings for Eastman. Expanded use of cellulosic fiber in textiles represent a significant opportunity for the company.  Eastman has strong technical capabilities in cellulosics and is leveraging these to grow in the textiles market.  Building a world class textiles marketing organization will be a critical piece of the overall strategy.  The marketing leadership position is a key role. This position will be located in either Zug, Switzerland or Kingsport, Tennessee.




The Strategic Marketing Director is responsible for the strategic choice making to build Eastman’s growth portfolio, execution of the projects in that portfolio, and supporting the sales team in the winning of new business.


Additionally, the director is responsible for identifying, selecting, and developing the team to develop and execute market strategies, market activation plans, marketing communications plans, and lead/participate on growth projects.


Specific areas of responsibility:

  • Develop and articulate a compelling growth strategy based on where-to-play and how-to-win choices

  • Develop market segment strategies informed by a deep knowledge of critical buying and use behaviors

  • Build a growth portfolio that meets desired business outcomes

  • Develop customer and product value propositions that drive desired behavior change in the market

  • Develop and launch activation plans that include specific customer tactics, campaigns, and programs

  • Ensure integration of business, product, and customer strategies to ensure consistency and alignment

  • Share and utilize "best practice" marketing tools to gain market insights required to identify growth opportunities

  • Develop a highly effective team by leveraging team/individual strengths, minimizing weaknesses, spreading accountability and coaching skill development

  • Create a collaborative team environment in which members take risks and seek accountability for actions



  • Develop and maintain a strong external understanding of key markets and value chains

  • Develop marketing strategy options consistent with industry dynamics and internal capabilities

  • Understand when to adapt strategy to respond to changing market or competitive conditions

  • Develop marketing organization structure and configuration options

  • Coach marketing skills to develop a global team

  • Collaborate with other key functions/stakeholders


    QualificationsDesired Experience, Skills & Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Marketing, Chemistry, or Engineering, MBA preferred

  • At least 10 years of experience in the textiles industry

  • Strong external focus and high bias for action

  • Proven track record with demonstrated results of successfully launching new market programs

  • Proven track record of building marketing teams

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced matrix-based environment with multiple, competing priorities

  • Strategic thinker with strong collaboration, interpersonal, team skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Business / financial acumen
