Position Description

3M is seeking a New Products Marketing Manager (NPM) for the Orthodontic Business in Oral Care Solutions Division located in Maplewood, MN.  At 3M, you can apply your talent in bold ways that matter.  Here, you go.

Job Summary

The New Products Marketing Manager for the Orthodontic business is responsible for leading the marketing efforts in the development of assigned New Product projects initiated by the Business Team, as well as the implementation and execution of the marketing work package requirements following our NPI process. The NPM will be responsible of new products from concept evaluation to launch.  The NPM will own the new product from ideation phase to launch execution. New products will transition to the Global Category Manager 1 year after launch.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Marketing Intelligence/Customer Insight:

  • Develops and executes market research plan for concept and feasibility phases
  • Defines research objectives, customers to be involved, methodology and budget needed
  • Ensures appropriate geographic regions representation is included
  • Completes competitive analysis by segment
  • Validates through market research customer requirements list, value proposition and wish list of claims
  • Conducts test market of product to be introduced

2. Pricing:

  • Completes product pricing work package for assigned NPI projects, using the appropriate pricing analysis tools such as price value map, van westerdorph and/or conjoint analysis
  • Works with Category manager to establish price bands and LNSP for each region based on market input and manufacturing cost estimates
  • Obtains pricing committee approval for pricing strategy including promotions

3. Financial Projection:

  • Works with regions to define a preliminary five year dollar forecast
  • Establishes 3 year proforma P&L based on COGS, MSRP and volume projection

4. Positioning and Branding:

  • Determines product positioning based on the value proposition and segmentation
  • Understands brand architecture and the fit of new products within the brand promise
  • Works with Category Manager to develop product name and brand strategy by region for assigned projects
  • Obtains branding approval from the Global Branding committee

5. Launch Plan Development:

  • Establishes country launch list for assigned projects
  • Defines launch dates and priorities according to registration timing of selected countries
  • Coordinates launch preparation with countries. Inputs global sales estimates and launch dates into NPP. Validates sales estimates inputs of key countries in NPP
  • Creates Global Launch plan that includes marketing communication strategy. Creates and provides collaterals to regions for launch
  • Develops sales support and training strategy to regions. Responsible for development of Sales Guide of the assigned new product
  • Assures seamless transition of new product to category marketer 1 year after launch
  • Ensures all marketing milestones are met on time and timelines adhere to the New Product Commercialization process

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
  • Minimum of three (3) years of Health Care business experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of sales or marketing Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Business degree in a Business or Science discipline
  • Master degree or higher from an accredited university
  • International or Subsidiary experience
  • DigitalMarketing & Social Mediaexperience
  • Ability to work in a cross functional and international teams
