***This position is located at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount, Va with travel required***
Great opportunity to impact the practice of nursing by working side by side with staff to reinforce best practice and increase their skills and knowledge to keep pace with technology and clinical practice changes. Partners with manager, team leaders and preceptors to develop the clinical thinking skills of all nurses.
Educates staff on assigned nursing units on new equipment, processes, and policies. Will be visible on the units daily and may require working evenings, nights and weekends to reach all staff. Expected to maintain clinical skills by providing direct patient care 8 hours every pay period. This is a 24 X 7 position that will be based at CFMH. Travel required to Roanoke two days a week.
Minimum Qualifications Required
Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing – or any bachelor's degree plus a master's degree in nursing required.
Experience: Must have knowledge/experience in nursing principles and theory, skills in applying adult learning principles, assessment and evaluation skills, skills in interpreting complex data, knowledge of evidence-based nursing, Joint Commission accreditation standards, and Virginia nursing licensure requirements. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, project management skills, time management skills, organizational skills, training skills, customer service skills, and strong follow up skills. Must be able to think critically, be creative and have the ability to take initiative to improve processes. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Must be a team player. Must have a minimum of 3 years of current experience as an RN in acute care setting (PCU level). Must have passion for teaching nurses and a desire to stay competent in nursing skills.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia AHA BLS-HCP required. May be required to obtain/maintain ACLS, based on specific work unit.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Must successfully complete orientation and competency requirements. Keyboarding skills and computer literacy required for automated computer systems (including electronic medical records) and use of Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to meet essential job functions.
