Hatch is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to join our team based in Los Angeles. The Solutions Architect expected to lead a number of initiatives associated with port container terminal automation projects. The incumbent establishes business requirements definitions through client engagement, develops solutions’ functional and architecture designs, ensure effective integration of solutions into clients’ operating systems, and ensure accurate implementation and execution, typically performed by others. Manage the project delivery process to meet the client’s vision, goals, objectives and expectations. Resolve problems and coordinate the final handover of the project to the client. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work on pioneering projects which involves the implementation of leading edge digital and automation technologies and processes.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Manage programs, key projects and vendors as required
  • Lead and facilitate workshop sessions for a variety of purposes - master planning, assessments, scoping
  • Review documentation and architectures
  • Serve as advisor to client and other project resources, e.g. providing input and feedback into the work being done by simulation and emulation provider
  • Assist with improving the reporting for project execution and for operations (e.g. production reporting)
  • Document the functionality and procedures of various management operations systems (e.g. Terminal Operating System)
  • Participation in design and code reviews as required
  • Define the testing approach and setting up environments for emulation, staging and commissioning / ramp-up
  • Working in collaboration with client, other Hatch employees (programmers, business analysts, testers) and third parties (consultants / vendors) to deliver successful solutions


  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in engineering / applied science (industrial, mechanical, electrical, or chemical), or computer science
  • MES and Operations Management System Solution design and delivery, preferably in a diverse set of roles (e.g. programmer, business analyst, architect, project manager)
  • Familiar with industrial control platforms (PLC/DCS/SCADA)
  • Experience integrating and interfacing business systems with automation systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of the client organization from C and VP levels to operator level
  • Interested in the application of robotics and automation to industrial processes
  • More than 10 years of experience managing automation, historians and manufacturing execution systems (MES) projects
  • Experience managing Terminal Operations Management Systems (T-OMS) projects is an asset
  • Experienceapplying agile (scrum) / devops to drive better collaboration during project execution
  • Excellent knowledge of software development lifecycle and best practices (e.g. coding, version control, testing, etc)
  • Experience developing business cases using applied automation and digitaltechnologies.
