Sr. Financial Analyst
The holder of this position will work as a business analyst resource gathering business information and requirements on behalf of CFO for various local/global projects within AGCS.
She/He will liaise with various functions/locations to make sure requirements are understood and agreed, and also work with IT resources to translate those requirements into effective, working programs. They will also work with the CFO area to assist in redefining work processes that result from changing or enhancing system changes. They will communicate frequently with stakeholders to ensure their needs are understood and executed within the project. They will support the Financial Close process and gain a solid understanding of finance applications.
Many AGCS project are based in Munich, Chicago, and California, which requires willingness to travel as needed. Multiple projects and changing priorities require patience and flexibility.
Lead the process of communicating with business users and defining/understanding business requirements for various projects. This may entail direct involvement in the process or the ability to drive a team of business analysts to gather requirements.
Effectively communicate and work with IT to ensure that requirements are understood, and also drive the testing/enhancement process to completion to ensure the business requirements are fully realized during the project.
Establish solid working relationships with CFO, IT, OBT functions in order to work efficiently together to realize project objectives.
Have the ability to work w the various CFO functions on redefining, documenting and implementing changes in daily processes that result from changes in business conditions, software or anything that would force adjustments in process.
Support local CFO ledger close processes by investigating issues that arise during the close, working with IT/CFO to ensure those issues are resolved quickly, and effectively communicating status to the CFO team throughout the process.
Excellent tertiary qualification (Master level ideally) preferred in Accounting, Finance
CPA and/or Project Management certification helpful; not required
Minimum 3 to 5 years of project and team work in an international and dynamic environment.
Professional experience in reinsurance or insurance, ideally P&C.
Proven experience in communication of results to a variety of stakeholders incl. senior management.
5 to 7 years of experience in Accounting/Finance role
Finance and Insurance know-how (ideally P&C) as well as understanding of complexities inherent in an insurance group (consolidation processes, legal versus management view) allowing for cross-departmental thinking and acting.
Solid understanding of data modeling, operations and technical workflows with regards to financialreporting and closing operations.
Project management skills and the ability to manage projects (milestone and task planning, managing resources, project controlling, monitoring, and reporting, moderation techniques) and to develop solutions while considering complex stakeholder structures and requirements.
General understanding of finance related applications; e.g. general ledger, planning systems, account payable, collections, or MIS.
Ability to proactively and quickly making sense of complex issues; responding effectively to complex and ambiguous situations in global matrix scenarios by identifying and initiating appropriate actions for remediation and follow through on actions. Ability to anticipate and resolve issues before they transpire.
Ability to secure and compare information from multiple sources in an efficient way to identify business issues; involving others with purpose in decision making processes; committing to an action after weighing alternative solutions against important decision criteria / trust own judgment and exhibit the confidence to make decisions under pressure.
Solid Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing).
Analytical Thinking and Numeracy: Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g. ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations.
